This is a very convenient hotel due to its location near the main train station. The staff were kind and welcoming. The rooms were larger for European standards.

Room info-the bathroom is not a separate space, the sink in the room, toilet behind a swinging glass door and shower behind another transparent glass door. The room we were in had an issue with temp stability in the shower. The metal floors in the shower may not appeal to those with sensory issues. No boxes of tissues, only one small pack.

The beds were a little too firm for comfort. The outdoor area for our room on the 5th floor had no outdoor furniture. Cleanliness was fine.

The breakfast was not included for Marriott Bonvoy members (Titanium and Lifetime Platinum). We paid 19 euros per person for the typical buffet (without scrambled eggs-only hard boiled). The lounge area is comfortable and convenient for having a drink or snack.

The neighborhood was not somewhere to hang out late into the evening, restaurants and shopping are walking distance.

Having previously stayed at Aloft Gran Via, Westin Palace and Pestana CR7, we would recommend this hotel as the one to choose when you have a layover prior to or after train travel.

Thank you for the hospitality AC Atocha!

I am giving this place an overall rating of Very Good, mainly due to its excellent location and comfort. It does have a few drawbacks, however. It is located in a lovely residential area, close to the Atocha train station and within easy walking distance of many attractions. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room was very clean and modern and sleek in design. This is where the trouble starts. The toilet is separate and has a black glass swing door which doesn’t close properly. If you are sharing a room, you may want to bring earplugs and air freshener! The shower is located in the middle of the room and is see through. When showering, you will be on full display to whoever you are sharing the room with!
Breakfast was excellent.
Free wifi mostly worked ok, but was a bit unreliable.
Nespresso machine supplies, but no tea making.
This hotel is recommended (if you are on good terms with your room mate).

We stayed one night the room was clean but dark as the window is small and we were upgraded because of Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status. Plus point was that the room was ready when we checked in at 10am which was appreciated as we had flown in on a transatlantic flight. They did not however offer the breakfast which was strange with Platinum. Anyway we had a nice breakfast in the morning at Atocha station from where we were taking the Renfe to Córdoba the next morning. Ubers to Plaza Mayor around €6. We did take the Aerporto Express bus from the airport €5 to Atocha and then a quick 5 minute walk to the hotel.

We were first given a standard room and the shower is all glass in the middle of the room. So weird! Then they upgraded us to a room with a balcony on the 5th floor. A little better but the shower is still very awkward. There is a strange metal floor and no place to put your toiletries and very difficult to shower. The balcony was nice but it didn't have any furniture at all. Not even one chair. You can park near the hotel at their parking for 23 euros a day but on Sunday on-street parking is free. There are also 2 AC Hotels on the same street so that can be confusing. The front desk staff were very unhelpful.

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to Atocha station and it did not disappoint. The property is modern, clean and welcoming and the front desk agents were professional and very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The only thing to keep in mind is the somewhat unconventional layout and style of the rooms. There is no separation between the bathroom and the sleeping area, and most importantly, the bathroom is all clear glass. Be warned - if you are sharing a room, there is little or no privacy when you're in the bathroom. You are quite literally on 'full display' when you take a shower, which could be really embarrassing situation if you're sharing a room with a friend or colleague!! Other than that, I would absolutely stay here again.

The AC Hotel Atocha, although about 2.1 kms/1.3 miles from the city center is a really good hotel and the staff are friendly and will go out of their way to help.
We stayed in the new section of the hotel which was impressive. The room was a decent size, well-appointed with a double bed, TV, writing desk and bar fridge.
The bathroom area was superb.
The basin area was large and it was separated from the toilet and shower areas by opaque glass and doors.
The shower area was stunning with a shower head, hand shower and 3 small jets on the lower section of the 'tube'.
There was also a jacuzzi bath.
That alone is a reason to stay there
The one problem I had was that although there were about 35 TV channels the only ones in English were the BBC and at times CNN.
Management, please can you sort that out.

A primary reason for choosing this hotel is to be close to Madrid’s primary train station on a stopover, either for rail journeys across Spain or for quick connections to the airport via Cercanias train, bus or Metro. To reach this hotel, use the Calle de Mendez Alvaro exit, cross the street, turn left and then turn right at the second street dead-ending into Calle de Mendez Alvaro. One idiosyncrasy of this hotel is that the showers in the guest rooms are glass-walled in the bedroom itself, with no way to make the glass opaque.

Great hotel, in particular if you're leaving the next day from Atocha station, then you're only a 5 minute walk. Good hotel, striking design to the rooms, very modern, black tiles, glass doors in the bathrooms, in fact the space is very well laid out so that an ordinary sized room feels bigger than it really is.
Sometimes, when checking in late at night, after a long day, the last thing one wants is to faff about for 10 minutes trying to find out how to turn off all the lights ( amazing where they manage to hide switches sometimes) but although the fittings are very hi-tech and modern they're relatively user friendly. Good breakfast - conveniently open from 08:00 - 12:00 on Sundays, for people who've been out late on Saturday night I suppose :)

although I was upgraded due to my platinum status, the superior king room is small and has a very bad design, to say the least. the room is one continuum of toilet to bedroom. there is no separation between the toilet, wash basin and the shower. there is a glass door in the toilet that does not fully close. the shower stall is glass chamber that is adjacent to the bed and your partner/friend/significant other can watch you taking shower from the bed. even if you are a deep sleeper, water falling on metal floor creates a ruckus that will wake you up. while lying in bed you can hear all the noises and smells emanating from the toilet, wash basin or the shower. you will keep waking up if your significant other/friend uses bathroom often in the night and that could be difficult for the travelers who have crossed multiple time zones
I asked to change the room and I was told that all rooms in this hotel are same.
although the location is good, just review the rooms on the website before booking this hotel.

Although centrally located in Madrid, I WOULD NOT recommend staying at the AC Hotel by Marriott Atocha. The hotel rooms are very poorly designed and allow for little privacy when showering or using the toilet. The shower walls are transparent and the floor is made of a metal grate which cuts into your feet as you shower. The blanket that is on the bed is made of a synthetic material that makes you sweat throughout the night and if you or your partner need to use the toilet, you will wake up the person who is sleeping as the light from the toilet stall shines directly onto the bed (since the light turns on by motion detection, it can’t be avoided). To make matters worse, the leather couch in our room had mysterious white stains on it and the wall in front of the desk was splattered with coffee. Don’t let the glossy pictures fool you. It’s best to avoid this hotel entirely.
