Fantastic hotel. We stayed here for my 30th birthday weekend. Location is superb. Didn't really know how good it was until you start walking around and realise how close you are to everything. Rooms clean, tidy, modern. Beds a bit too soft and it was two singles pushed together but not a big deal for me. Staff were excellent, if...

This hotel is in a great location, the added benefits of breakfast which was lovely and the roof top terrace and the cave bar also gave this hotel some added features. This is in a great location, although the room we stayed in was small it had all we needed and it was clean. The transport by taxi to the...

The hotel is located next to Santo Domingo Metro which has convenient access to Central Madrid and is a short stroll to the shopping hub of Sol. The reception staff were attentive and upgraded our room. The room although somewhat compact, was very well appointed. The cleaning staff did a great job. There are a number of stairs throughout but...

Nice hotel centrally located very near Gran Via and Playa Mayor. There are lots of little bars and shops very near by so if you don't want to venture too far you're well catered for. Reception staff pleasant and knowledgeable and reception is bright and airy. The bar is small but very nice with comfy seating and crisps nuts brought...

This is a great hotel, easy to find and if you come with a car there is two parking houses under the hotel but only one has an elevator up to the ground level. It's a bit expensive to park there, I paid 30 Euro for 24 hours. But back to the hotel. We like a lot, cool interior, many...

This hotel is in a great location you can walk to all the main attractions in no time. If you don't fancy the walk then there is a metro station right outside. The hotel itself was very very clean & our room was clean bright & the maid came each day of our stay to freshen everything up. The room...

I stayed here with two other adults and 5 children in February. The location is excellent and only a 5 minute walk from a main shopping area, and 10 mins from the beautiful Royal Palace. The staff were excellent and very helpful so it's a shame that the bedroom facilities let the place down. We had 6 rooms between us...

The hotel is perfectly located: central but calm. We managed to stop during the day to change or rest. Everything is within waling distance, restaurants and shopping is also nearby. The rooms are very good, excellent sleep, big enough and worth the money. The only minus would be that the breakfast to take away was not worth the money. The...

This hotel has a lot of pro's to recommend it, unfortunately the room we stayed in was a big disappointment. Pro's: excellent location, near the sights, shops, and public transport. Very nice staff. Excellent breakfast, good variety to choose from, very good quality. Both bars are very nice, very reasonable, and staff are helpful. Although the roof terrace bar /...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
