Had a fantastic time in Madrid. Location is perfect for commuting via metro around the city. Hotel is friendly and sophisticate with helpful staff. Room was very clean and was not noisy at all. Unfortunately lost my driving licence but on returning to UK contacted the hotel via email and was informed that they had found it in my room...

Excellent location near to almost all attraction in Madrid. You may walk to Prado Museum and Retiro Park, and many places. If you want to use Metro subway, Gran Via station is just around the corner and also you can hop on the bus for city tour. Shopping is everywhere near the hotel. Get the room with street view to...

Looks can be somewhat deceiving here... very nice stay overall. Everything appears very nice but is actually falling apart. For example, Our balcony was stunning but the wood floor was falling though in some places. Not safe to walk on without shoes. The bathroom was spacious, but the shower, then the sink, did not drain throughout our two day stay....

The hotel is within walking distance of a huge chunk of the city, which is impressive given how spread out Madrid can seem. The staff were all very pleasant, with the rooms spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was delicious and fresh as well. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a city centre hotel.

We get together with our university crew once a year at some European city, and this time it was beautiful Madrid! Prado Museum, Retiro Park and Mercado San Miguel was the highlights for us. Our hotel was at a very good location to reach all of them on foot!

We've just returned from a mid week visit to this stunning hotel perfectly located on the Gran Via. We visited this hotel for our anniversary last January and I booked a surprise valentine break for my partner and I - he was overjoyed so it went down well! The hotel itself is perfectly located on the Gran Via - public...

Eleven of us ladies stayed here for a long weekend in Madrid. Firstly the hotel is in an excellent location on the Gran Via - within walking distance to many shops, bars, restaurants. The hotel is clean, rooms spacious with good facilities, small coffee shop in the reception area. However what let the hotel down were some of its reception...

We stayed at this hotel as we didn't want to pay a fortune for 5 star luxury when all we would do would be sleep there. The price was reasonable and when we arrived we saw that the location was fantastic. Within walking distance of so many attractions. We got the Linea Express airport bus to cibeles (5 euro per...

This hotel is in a perfect location for sightseeing in Madrid. It is in walkable distance to all the major sites, furtherest away is about 20mins walk. Or if you don't fancy the walk there is a Hop On/ Hop Off bus stop just across the road. We upgraded our room to a deluxe room which I'm not sure was...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
