We were travelling for a month and had a lot of luggage. The room was small but comfortable. The shower was good although a little slippery. The room lacks storage so we had to live out of the suit cases. The breakfast was good and the staff excellent. The food could have been a little hotter but not an issue....

This hotel was good. I enjoyed the room, it was decent sized. Only thing was the breakfast wasn't that appealing and the shower design was basically flat so water got on the floor. It's an old hotel so you can hear things easily but right in center of a lot of tourist spots which is good. The wifi was pretty...

A nice hotel with very helpful and positive staff, from highlighting the location of Christmas markets to flight check ins, the staff were unfailingly cheerful and helpful. The room was pleasant and the buffet breakfast was good with the tasty bread/cakes and delicious cake and cold meats and very importantly fresh coffee. The hotel benefits from having a cafe/restaurant in...

The room was on the small side, the room was dark, and the toiletries in the bathroom could use some improvement. The wallpaper needed to be replaced as it was peeling. On the positive side, the breakfast was abundant and good. At check-in, Danny helped us and he was great. Although I speak Spanish fairly fluently, my husband was appreciative...

Decent hotel for those on a budget. We booked this hotel with the understanding that it was a four star.i give it a solid three. The lobby is small with no place to lounge and there is no business centre. The breakfast for hotel guests is served downstairs, so do not be deceived by the restaurant attached to the hotel...

This delightful property is situated a couple of blocks from the royal palace. Located near the "Dulce Navidad" Christmas market, and an easy walk to Plaza Mayor, I cannot think of a better location for a first trip to Madrid.

I stayed 4 nights in this hotel in December 2016, and my opinion is that it is perfectly situated in the city center with a walkign distance from the city major attractions (Sol, Royal Palace, Gran Via etc...). The hotel is NOT a real 4 stars: Some of the room furniture needs to be replaced with more modern ones, the...

From the minute we arrived until we left, we were treated extremely well by the staff. The two gentlemen who were at the desk the day we arrived were especially helpful, as we had never before been in Madrid. Later that first evening, the man at the desk recommended a great restaurant. The wait staff in the restaurant was great,...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
