I stayed at the hotel for a week, 11th to 17th January, and I had an excellent stay, the staff were very attentive and knowledgeable, the room that I had was small, but it was more than adequate for a single traveller, it was spotlessly clean and serviced daily.
The restaurant was very nice and the food was excellent, the staff were lovely and I would highly recommend eating here. The location is great and you can walk to many of Madrids most famous attractions, there's a metro nearby, but my advice is to walk wherever possible.
I will definitely return to hotel opera on my next trip to Madrid.
I would like to thank the staff for making my stay so pleasant, and thank them for tolerating my very limited Spanish language skills.

Just returned from our stay in Madrid during these sad times. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and kind rearranging bookings and organising meals and explaining the changing rules and regulations during the new lockdown situation. We will return to this beautiful city and the perfect, central location of this hotel.

Hotel Opera was a great find. Nestled just steps away from Teatro Real and the Palacio Real de Madrid. I booked a stay for 5 nights at a great rate in their Individual room and it was completely adequate for a solo traveler. Minibar was stocked well which I ravaged throughout my stay. The hotel restaurant/cafe was great for a quick bite or a good ole tinto de verano. The breakfast included was okay, but honestly not a morning person and only made it once. Would highly recommend this hotel for its easy convenience walking distance to main areas like Sol and Chueca.

I stayed in this hotel quite a number of years ago and absolutely loved it so decided to stay again on a recent trip. The location is perfect, you absolutely can’t fault it if you’re spending time in Madrid but we had an issue with the room which I feel warrants the 2 star rating. The room was clean, as was the bathroom itself but what we found not to be clean was one of the bath towels that was sitting on the shelf above the bath. I went for a shower and used one and when my husband used the next towel as he wrapped it round him I noticed a large fresh blood stain on it which we knew hadn’t come from him. I showed it to the cleaner who was right outside the door but she didn’t speak much English and gave us a fresh one. We went to the reception and explained what happened and we were told that towels were removed from the room after each guest has left and replaced with new ones. Clearly not the case on this occasion so my husband asked if our room had been occupied the night before our stay and we were told yes. My husband explained the danger of the situation especially when it’s blood and the current issue with the Coronavirus but the gentleman behind the reception desk didn’t seem to understand the concerns but did apologise and that was that. It left us both shocked and put a dampener on our stay. I don’t think we would return again which is a shame because other than this it’s a perfect spot.

Awful time at this hotel, could not get any restful sleep due to the noise both of other guests and workmen banging at 10am on 28th February. To add to this the breakfast service was disgraceful, the first day was mayhem but we managed to get a seat an eventually get a coffee. The second day I was asked to wait which I did for 15 minutes then was shown to an empty table with no cutlery or cups etc. I did not notice until I went to get my food and then I had to try to find my own cutlery which wasn't easy and then the food was cold. On the 3rd day we avoided breakfast altogether as it was just not worth it. The last day the hotel left us with the extremely kind departing gift of workmen banging continuosly for 15 minutes at 10am, I had not slept well due to other noises at the hotel so this was really the cherry on the cake. Probably the worst hotel I have stayed and ruined my trip in Madrid

The location of the hotel is excellent right at the heart of the city, close to many attractions and the metro. The receptionists were very nice and helpful, especially the older gentleman who works the evening shift. The opera nights on weekends are an interesting idea.

Unfortunately the cleaning was not very good as the maid forgot to do a lot of basic things, such as filling up the soap. The sauna area was of restricted use with extra charge, which was disappointing.
The men at the cafeteria were rude and more interested in chatting with each other than providing customer service and the service was extremely slow. 1 star for them.
If you want a 4-star experience, you will probably want to book a room with a private jacuzzi, as we didn’t feel that staying in a standard room at this hotel was any different from many 3-star hotels where we have stayed in.

My sister and I stayed here for 3 nights. We chose the Hotel because of its central location and its facilities - we required a lift and a room with a walk in shower. The location cannot be faulted, it is very central with Opera metro station (which has access from the plaza by lift) literally round the corner. The Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor and Puerto de Sol are a short walk away. Our room was comfortable and breakfast was excellent, with a wide range of food available.

However, it was the hotel staff who made our stay so enjoyable. They were without exception helpful and friendly and very understanding at my poor attempts to communicate in Spanish. A special mention to Joe in the Café/ Restaurant who made us feel so welcome and took good care of us. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Madrid.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Lovely and helpful folks working here. I was in the single room on the 7th floor. The room was spacious enough for one person and it looked exactly as the picture shown (from TA or the hotel website) - seems recently updated and clean and bathroom was really nice. Location was perfect - the Opera metro station was 1min walk: SOL was 5mins, Gran Via was probably 5-7mins. You can walk everywhere really. But its nice to have the metro close by when your feet just won’t cooperate. And its nice to come back to your room mid day to rest. Restaurants and bars and cafes are everywhere near the hotel and most open til late; you won’t go hungry. No problem with noise or safety issues (I often come walking back very late and out very early). Oh and I had breakfast at the hotel only once (I prefer to try out new restaurants and cafes) but it was very nice buffet style. All around a very nice choice if you’re heading to Madrid.

We came from Chicago and paid 340 Euro for one night and was extremely disappinted. Room was large but dirty, with scratching paint, spider in the bathroom. The front desk was extremely rude - we got to the hotel at 2:50pm after a long flight and the guy rudely said our check in time is 3pm ... seriously? we waited till 3pm and only then he gave me the room key. The room didnt have any water or kettle to make team. We stayed in spain at many different hotels like Grand Melia, Melia and they all were extremely welcoming. I will never stay at this hotel again and will tell all my friends and fam to not stay either!

Great hotel in a perfect location. We loved our room - once it was sorted out. It was clean, very comfortable bed, big bathroom, walk in shower, shades that rolled down to black out the 2 large windows and enough room for the too much luggage we brought. We did not reserve the room with breakfast but added it the 2nd morning. It was excellent with lots of choices. We also enjoyed the Cafe Opera.

We reserved a Standard Double Room and were initially given one on the top floor (7th?). It was awful. The desk and chair were on a platform 3 steps up and surrounded by glass so a person could not fall off the platform. This left very little room for the bed and 2 bedside tables. There was no space to open a suitcase unless you dragged it up the 3 stairs. We began unpacking thinking this was it. Then we realized we heard the elevator every time it stopped. On top of that the bathroom door squeeked like in a horror movie. Not ideal for someone who uses the bathroom in the middle of the night.

I have never complained about a hotel room before. I went to the front desk and told them the room was horrible and looked nothing like the photos of the room I reserved on their website. I asked if we could move to another room on the same floor but they said all the rooms on the top floor were the same. However they offered to move us to a room on another floor and help us move our things. We moved to a different room on the 5th(?) floor and it was exactly what we expected.

Gratias to the excellent staff who kindly listened to my complaint and found a room to our satisfaction. They were also a great help with directions, sightseeing and a taxi to the airport upon departure.
