Room decrepit and filthy. Broken glass in windows covered in board so no natural light in room. Room door coming off hinges so no security. Complained to staff who told me not to tell tripadvisor, using smart phone translator as did not speak English at all. Mould on matress.

I'd say it was one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. Dirty, no window in the room, loud, uncomfortable & squeaky beds. Dangerous also as there were exposed wires in the light switch in the bathroom.

It is one of the cheapest options in Madrid and it is very well located. The rooms are not nice, neither the hostel itself but it is very practical and the personel is kind. Subway is close, shops and restaurants too. It is located a few steeps from gran via. Not recommended for romantic chic holidays but for backpackers indeed.... More

OK the price was cheap and you get what you pay for. The place was like the house that Jack built, electrical sockets hanging off the walls. The bathrooms felt grubby, The bathrooms were covered by a variety of tiles it was as if they found a batches of tiles in a skip, or a tile shop was clearing off... More

The hotel is awful, me and my friend were laughing that it is like prison. The plus is that the hotel is in perfect place and that there weren't any bugs - "kukaracha" how spanish call them. -----------------------------------------------------------------

We had a small room with a balcony (3 people) facing the street, so it was quite noisy at night, because the building was centrally located in a busy sidestreet to the main street, Gran Vía. The receptionist was nice and helpful an it was Nice that you not only got a room key but also a key for the... More

This place was very convenient to the metro system, the room was clean enough and the reception was very nice and friendly. I would avoid the bar and go to the little convenience store around the corner, 3.80 for a coke is a little pricy but then again it is Paris.

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
