This is a family run hostal in a vibrant neighborhood of Madrid. It's within walking distance of Atocha Train station as well as museums. There are good dining options available within a short walk from the front door. My room was small but clean and well appointed.

The location is good. Near to the Prado and other museums. You can walk from Atocha railway station where the airport bus also stops. However, it is all uphill. The room and bathroom were small but they use all the space cleverly and it is functional. It does not feel too small. Clean, everything works, free wifi and a surprisingly...

This was bad: - very small bathroom - cold (october) - non english speaking crew - wi-fi problems (not always working) - noise at night - "paper" walls :) This was good: - near the city center - clean - cheap

We were here for 4 nights and everything was great. The Hostel is very safe, clean, we had enough space in our double room, the bathroom was very clean with clean towels. The owners are very nice and they are cleaning each room every day. The location is perfect. Is just next to Atocha station, Prado museum and 10' of...

This small familyrun hostal is located on quiet small street (in Spanish terms quiet) just off the Plaza Santa Ana. It`s very clean and well maintained by older couple that only speak spanish. Room has heating but no air-conditioning. However during May when temperatures were around 25-28 celsius it was still pleasant as most of the rooms are not facing...

I have stayed here four or five times over the last couple of years. For me it is the perfect location - very near the centre but in an attractive and relatively quiet traffic free street away from the noise of bars. Perfect for the Prado, Retiro and Atocha but minutes away from the lively Plaza Santa Ana. It is...

This hostal was a great little find. A real bargain, the rooms were clean and each with their own bathroom with powerful shower and TV. The location is fantastic - really near the bars on Plaza Santa Ana and Sol, but the street its on is quiet. The owners were lovely, although speak little English (but its all good practice!)...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
