We stayed at Mercure during our stay in Madrid. It's brilliantly located just 5 mins walk from Gran Via and well connected by bus / metro. Rooms are of good quality and well maintained. Highly recommended.
A good central location and a sensible priced business hotel. I am sure that when the refurbishment is completed, it will be even nicer.
Air conditioning could be a little more powerful, but the rooms are nicely laid out and a very comfortable bed.
A beautifully appointed hotel only opened for a year and a half. It was tastefully decorated with spacious rooms and a large shower. The decor was subtle yet chic. Renovations were still underway when we were there so we not inclined to drink and sample...More
The renovations were still in progress but almost all done - it was just the lobby area to be done. Rooms were very good, comfortable and bright. Bed very comfortable. Check in staff professional and fast. I enjoyed my stay here and will definitely stay...More

Just south of the sprawling campus of the Complutense University of Madrid, Arguelles exudes a fast-paced, collegiate vibe. The main street, Calle Princesa, is filled with twenty-somethings rushing between classes and errands, meeting up with classmates, and grabbing cheap beers and cheap eats. This is a prime shopping spot where the major Spanish clothing and department store chains are less busy than their downtown
counterparts, and there is an array of casual dining options to choose from. Check out nearby outdoor spaces such as the lushly planted Plaza de España to the south, which is often filled with craft stalls. To the west of Arguelles is the giant Parque Oueste, a calm and picturesque park with its own Egyptian temple.
