Hostal Foster offers a great location to explore Madrid downtown and Gran Via area. From the hostal you can walk to many of Madrid's attractions or take the subway at any of the nearby stations. The surroundings are dark and the hostal may be difficult to find when arriving (it is located on the 2nd floor of a building that...

Small room for 2 people, leak of water into the room from bathroom when used. The lift was out of order for a whole week, so we had to carry up and down heavy suitcases. The staff didn`t speak any language except Spanish. Front desk was empty almost all day and night

The location of this place is perfect. Just off the Gran Via, easy to the metro, walking distance to the Prado, Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. Its located on the 2nd floor of an apartment building, and there is no common area, just a hallway with rooms off of it, which is kinda weird, but...

Hostal Foster is on a side street off of the main street near the Gran Via Metro station. It's about a 5 minute walk from lots of shops and the Metro station. The hostel is on the second floor in a building with many other Hostels, which is weird if you aren't used to that but it's very safe and...

Hostal is near Gran Via and two metro stations, shops and restorans. Clean and quite spaceful room, air-condition and wi-fi for free. We had a room with a balcony towards main street and we liked it very much. Definetly a place where I would like to come and stay again.

Perfect location (near the Gran Via) where there are lots of restaurants, cafés and theatres (we went to see a dance performance, it was wonderful). There were also metro stops nearby. Rooms were rather small, but cozy and tidy. Very friendly staff who speak English and one of them even gave us a ride to the airport. I liked the...

OK this place is really narrow and small. Everything seems to be in petite form, but location is great, service is good and kind. Room is clean and welcoming. No breakfast is offered but for the price it's good value for money.

Good location for visiting all major attractions. Rooms very clean and tidy. Staff very helpful and when needed used translating service on iphone to make sure they understood us and helped us. Our flight home was an evening flight and they allowed us to leave our cases there at no extra cost. When we returned for the cases they took...

We came here on a Groupon deal and got a nice room facing the street. As said before the street is not the most pleasing but room was very good, clean and very modern. The toilet and shower worked perfectly. Though watch when showering is the water drains very slowly. Use the shower at half power and you will avoid...

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
