There is nothing fancy about this place, the rooms are basic, the breakfast is the same every day, the amenities limited. But the people are friendly, it is scrupulously clean, the rooms are quiet, and the wireless fast. The location, close to Plaza Espana and the Royal Palace, is not central but close to the center by foot or by...

The rooms and hallways are in need of a little renovation, but everything is clean and in good state. Staff is friendly and the breakfast was well supplied. The location is perfect as the metro is a hop skip away. It is perfect for families looking for a nice place to crash after a long day of sightseeing.

Great location Not much of a view from room. The room has basic facilities but clean and good overall Staff very professional Hotel itself is not much entertaining yet closeness to plaza de espanya and the castle and gran via (shopping) and lots of restaurants makes it perfect for a short stay Baby crib was good but not as comfy...

We were at the hotel for 5 nights, without breakfast. (You can see what they are serving and decide if you want-we decided to not eat it) the location is very good- a minute away from plaza the espana and the metro station! Which is also a few minutes from the gran via and also a 10 minutes walk from...

The hotel was nice and in a great location. The only problem was the construction noise which made it difficult to siesta after our long overnight flight. Perhaps a room on the back side of the hotel would be better.

I stayed in for 2 nights! Clean massive room, nicely decorated, helpful friendly staff and perfect location in central Madrid! Breakfast was diverse and delicious, and the bar selection pretty good and well priced! I would have rated it 5 stars, but room was pretty noisy due to the building site across the street and the proximity to Plaza de...

First of all can I say that this hotel was clean, central and the staff were very friendly but, and it's s big but, there are major building works directly opposite the hotel. When we arrived we were aware of it but thought we could put up with it, but it was constant and the noise just cut through us....

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in May. The room and bathroom were clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location, right by a metro station, and lots of restaurants and tourist attractions are within walking distance. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madrid.

The hotel is older but obviously has been a bit of a grand old Dame. Everything is dated but superbly clean. Staff is polished and helpful and the breakfast - though 9.50 Euros - was delicious and copious. The hotel is difficult for taxi service given all the construction...we had to get out at a corner and walk the rest...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
