Good location, close to city center (two lines, three stops to Retiro station or just walk through Retiro park), not far from the airport. Reception service was OK, there was no mini bar in the room. It was clean, breakfast was OK.More

I would stay in a different hotel but if that is not an option, be sure to stay in the newer building a block up the street. The older tower down the street is a dump. A cab could not be more than E20 as we went further for less. There is a subway stop only a couple of blocks up the street from the newer tower of the hotel (if you don't have much luggage). Madrid also has Uber as an option but the taxis are reasonable and safe.

If you are a walker, you can walk through Retiro Park and continue, past the Prado, Plaza Mayor, and straight across town to the Palace but it is quite a walk (I have done it and it is an interesting walk). There is a subway entrance near the hotel, they can give directions, and it will connect you near the Palace too. You can also take a cab - they are not expensive. I would target getting to the Palace in the morning as it can be crowded and if it is hot is is not pleasant.
