The Melia Madrid Princesa garners mixed reviews, with guests praising its prime location in the heart of Madrid, which offers convenient access to attractions and public transport. While the hotel's cleanliness generally meets expectations, opinions on room comfort and decor vary, with some describing the accommodations as outdated. Service receives accolades for staff friendliness, yet some guests find responsiveness lacking. The hotel's value proposition has come under scrutiny, as certain reviewers find the additional charges and service not up to the standard of a 5-star establishment.

The hotel has a very good location in the city center, you can easily reach all touristic places on foot, or by Uber, Bolt or taxi without any problem. The hotel is about one block from Plaza Espana, where are many restaurants and bars. The hotel has a very nice reception and bar. The breakfast area has a lower ceiling but is spacious. The breakfast is varied but not very tasty or tasteless. The interior of room looked a little bit older but was spacious. The cleanliness of the room was good excluding of dust on the floor and around the bed, probably not so good for allergy sufferers. Would I stay at the hotel again? Well, I don't want to directly say it's a rather 4 then 5 star hotel, but they could/ should have improve it. The worst probably is that fact, that until now I didn't not receive an invoice from the hotel (they promised to send to my email) and no one respond to my email request, they practically ignore me.

Excellent staff, from the reception (Claudia) to the barmen. The steak that I had one ordered one evening was outstanding and room service quick and efficient. The room itself was very comfortable with all modern amenities and tech-enabled. Finally, the location of the hotel is marvellous as all points of interest are a short distance away. Thank you, everyone at Melia Princesa Madrid for a memorable stay!

The hotel is gorgeous and the location is great. I believe that a fair review should report the strong points and those that could be improved. The common areas are truly elegant and tastefully furnished. The Wellness area must be booked but it is really too small for a hotel of this size. The room assigned to us was elegant, very clean, King size bed, fantastic mattress and excellent selection of pillows. Clean bathroom and commendable choice of dispensers with quality products that eliminate single-dose plastic. However, from a five star I expected a larger room and greater care towards the guest, no gifts or welcome thoughts. Furthermore, I believe that in a five-star hotel at almost 300 euros per night, breakfast should be included in the price. However, very friendly staff.

Far from a 5-Star Experience

Meliá Princesa Madrid is a hotel that claims 5-star status but fails to deliver on almost every front. The decor and furniture are visibly damaged and outdated, and the room design seems to lack any consideration for guest comfort. Lighting resembles that of a low-grade hospital—cold and uninviting.

Noise from connecting rooms is constant and disruptive, and the bathrooms are poorly designed to the point of inconvenience; one must sit sideways on the toilet due to the odd placement of a sliding glass door. Despite upgrading to the hotel’s “best room” for a five-day stay, I found myself repeatedly disappointed. The WiFi barely worked, and the hotel even charges 4 euros for a tiny bottle of water, a clear sign of misplaced priorities in a supposedly luxury establishment.

The only highlights were Daniel at the front desk and Jose and Antonio at the bell desk, who showed true professionalism. However, their kindness can’t redeem the hotel’s fundamental issues. I wouldn’t recommend Meliá Princesa Madrid to anyone—certainly not at this price, or even for free. Look elsewhere for a genuine luxury experience.

Dear Guest, We sincerely thank you for choosing the Meliá Madrid Princesa Hotel for your stay in Madrid and for giving us the opportunity to welcome your entire family. We are pleased to know that some of our staff, such as Daniel at the front desk and José and Antonio at the porter service, left a positive impression and demonstrated the friendliness and professionalism that characterize our service. We deeply regret that, despite the efforts made and solutions offered, your overall experience did not live up to your expectations. Our team informed you of the additional charges upon detecting that all members of your group made use of The Level service, and as part of our attention, the manager on duty arranged a 50% discount on the upgrade to Gran Premium, as well as the removal of some bar and minibar charges on your final bill. Subsequently, the bill was sent to you with a refund of the adjusted amounts as a courtesy. We are sincerely sorry that, despite these actions, we have not been able to change your perception of our service and comfort proposal. We value each of your comments and we will pass them on to the corresponding team to improve our spaces and service, always maintaining our commitment to quality. We reiterate our appreciation for your comments and for allowing us to welcome you and your family. We would be delighted to be able to offer you a fully satisfactory stay in the future and live up to your expectations. Best regards, Laura López, Voice of Customer Coordinator

Hi, we checked into the Melia Princess level hotel and we had guest level level lounge experience. The manager that checked us in was very grumpy and quite difficult with us and we had an issue where my son is a very fussy eater and he refused to ensure the Kitchen staff prepare something with all the ingredients they had without charging us even though we had a bed and breakfast package - the item that I wanted them to prepare was a smoothie with oats and berries however they were refusing to do this and I was very disappointed as I had emailed them multiple times before to say my son is very fussy and I would appreciate it if your staff could help with breakfast options he has only two years old
They seem very inflexible and unable to accommodate something very simple despite me asking ahead of time.

The other concern was that in our bedroom the water coming out of the taps was brown for a few minutes and I was brushing my teeth and my toddlers teeth, it worried me deeply!
When I questioned this, they said it was to do with the plumbing issue that they thought they had resolved however this to me raise a lot of health and safety and hygiene concerns which they never seem to address with me properly

I have raised all of these issues with the Hotel directly however they have ignored me since we have checked out and are not interested in speaking with me about it. Therefore I am not going to recommend this hotel and would not go back

We are honoured to have been your choice during your recent stay at our hotel, where we strive daily to ensure an unforgettable and satisfying experience for all our valued guests. We sincerely appreciate the time you have taken to share your concerns with us. We are saddened to hear that certain aspects of your stay did not live up to your expectations. First and foremost, the health and safety of our guests is our top priority. At our hotel, we strive to provide an excellent experience, meeting the highest standards. On the other hand, we regret to learn that, despite the efforts of our entire team to make your stay as pleasant as possible and cater to your every preference, we have not been able to change your perception and provide you with the excellent service we aspire to for our distinguished guests. As mentioned, the team offered the option of preparing a personalised milkshake for your child, although this service was offered at an additional charge. Your feedback is extremely important to us, and your comments motivate us to continue working towards excellence and to provide you with unforgettable moments on every visit. We hope we can welcome you back in the future. Kind regards, Laura LĂłpez, Voice of Customer Coordinator

We have stayed in a few Melia hotels over the years and this was one of our favourites. For us paying a bit extra for The Level makes all the difference as it takes the stress out of having to go out and buy water and snacks. It also creates an appointment to kick back and chill in the hotel you've paid money to stay in. I must admit reading other reviews we were a bit concerned the pool would be pointless but for us it wasn't the case. On the day we arrived we 'booked' the daily allowance of 40 minutes for the duration of our stay, which was included with The Level. I know this won't suit everyone but it meant we had the pool area either to ourselves or with one or two other couples. As our daughter is 15 she was also allowed to swim. I do think it would have been unfair if she wouldn't have been allowed in, I've also read about paying extra on top to use the pool if you don't have The Level, I'm not sure on prices for that and to some that would also seem unfair. What I will say is it probably stops the area becoming overcrowded. The location is great, near a tube stop and within walking distance to a lot of major attractions. Breakfast was also nice, with lots of choice. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly book Melia again.

The location and Hotel room was great! However if you are looking for good service or don’t speak Spanish this hotel is Not for you.

My boyfriend and I scheduled a massage and were told we would receive a call to confirm the time and arrange details, we never received a call.

Laundry bags are provided in your room , they will not take the laundry from your room , they don’t tell you this! We waited 2 days for laundry to be done before going to front desk were they told us they could not do our laundry due to it being the weekend.

The room we stayed in was smoke free yet for 2 days our room stunk due to people in the room next door smoking cigarettes.

Whenever my boyfriend or I asked for assistance from the hotel staff they were anything but friendly, (excluding Maria, who was very polite and helpful).

Overall very disappointing experience , would not stay here again.

The location of the hotel is very good within walking distance to Madrid main attractions, and also a minute away from the Metro. The place is surrounded by restaurants and bars.

It is not really a five star hotel. It needs a refurbishment in the rooms. It is more for a 3.5 or four star than a five star. But also you’re not paying five star prices either. The rooms are sort of basic as there’s no luxury. That is compensated by the location, and for the room amenities which is all you may need for a short day in the Spanish capital.

There may be better hotels in Madrid, but this one will meet the requirements of any discerning traveller and you don’t have to pay a fortune to enjoy a relatively appropriate level of comfort.

Recommended.

As you enter the Melia Princesa you are greeted with the lovely scent of Blue velvet and the wonderful reception staff and helpful hotel porter.
5 Star Team working in Melia Madrid. From all the reception Staff,To all the dining room Staff, bar staff, house keeping staff.Hotel was very clean.
5Star breakfast, everthing considered, incl Cava if desired!! Food was very enjoyable in the dining room also from 20.30. Booking was helpful as the hotel was very busy.
Massages we had at the spa were enjoyed by our group.Must be booked.

We were 3 adults and booked a triple room. We had 2 beds and a camp bed in the room which wasn't ideal for a 5 night stay, when this was discussed with reception we were told the hotel was full and this could not be rectified.
However the camp bed proved comfortable enough for our 21 yr old.Beds were very comfortable. AC very good and necessary as outside temp was 38 degrees!!!

Areas for improvement.
Floor mat in the reception was torn, not a good look.
Small swimming pool, would benefit from larger pool and more accessible steps in to pool. There is a chair lift to enter the pool which may be helpful for those with serious mobility issues. However, the Pool could be more accessible for people who are mobile but a[50s] older person. The men in my party were not impressed by the small pool.Jacuzzis x 2 did not have any handrail to enter and exit, this limits access for older person like me, resulting in me having a fall, got a shock but no damage done thankfully.Certainly would not use jacuzzis due to inability to access.
The air con machine in the massage room needs attention/ very noisy when trying to relax.
As we were leaving early 4am a picnic was ready for us at reception, must be requested. The wrap sandwich may need to be reconsidered, not appetising at all, everything else was welcome.
Overall, we felt very comfortable in this Hotel which is important when on holidays and would stay again.
The hotel may not look like a 5 star more 4 star in appearance after the reception area.
We did not see any Hotel Manager to link in with.
The 5 star staff make this hotel, always helpful and friendly.
Compliments to those preparing the food for breakfat and dinner.
