Amazing location, super good neighborhood and you can do everything by walking. Close of the best Corte Ingles and stores of the city. I booked a suite so I had access to the checkin-checkout and facilities of the Intercontinental Club, a private area with private breakfast, and during the whole day coffee, water and snacks. Super spacious room, very good experience.

Like an old pair of slippers, worn around the edges but providing exceptional comfort and relaxation
Chose IC Madrid for its location and past reviews. Hotel is 5 minutes from Gregorio Marañón Metro station, so makes it easy to access from the airport. Take the 8 and then one stop on the 10. It is a nice walk into the centre of Madrid and the main sights too.
Hotel check-in was smooth and friendly, our status was acknowledged, with a UG being offered. The room was large and comfortable with a comfortable king size bed. There was also a large bathroom that has a separate shower and large bath. All toiletries were provided with personal packs for shaving , cleaning your teeth and other amenities. There were robes and slippers provided too.
The room and bathroom were spotless and clean.
The rooms and hotel are "very traditional" but provide the comfort you get from an old pair of slippers. A little worn around the edges but you can’t take them off, as they are so comfortable.
The stay was made special by the staff, both in reception and in the bar, not to mention the guys who greet you every time you come in. We ate and drank in the bar on two of the nights we stayed there, the drinks can’t be faulted and the food snax are tasty. The guys in the bar were good fun and very professional keeping a good eye on you to make sure your visit was an enjoyable one.

For a hotel that boasts of 70 years of heritage, the InterContinental Madrid definitely does a good job of maintaining its rooms to a standard where nothing comes across as dated. As an InterContinental Ambassador & IHG Platinum, I used a Confirmable Suite Upgrade which cleared through a week or two in advance of the stay. Unlike many other suites with a common bedroom + living area, the suite we had a proper door separating the two, with a work desk in the living room; there was also a separate hallway outside the living room with a wardrobe to put stuff in and to take shoes off. The separation of the living and bedroom area was very useful for taking a couple of work calls without disturbing my partner. Bathroom area was spacious. I adored the gift of local olive oil and balsamic vinegar as a souvenir. The concierge team was excellent at helping me figure out a couple of shops in Madrid to hire suit rentals last minute when the one I’d brought along got stained. Overall a thoughtful and attentive team that was very responsive to our needs.

We have always had excellent experiences staying at the Intercontinental Madrid and this time was our best. We used the hotel’s car service for airport transfers and found it to be very professional and exceeded our expectations. We greatly appreciated the wonderful upgrade and the hotel rewarding our loyalty to the Intercontinental. As I have mentioned in previous reviews, we are very satisfied with the Intercontinental’s recognition of Royal Ambassadors Diamond Elite members. The food was terrific and the service at the Club Lounge was very good. We also greatly appreciate the fantastic job the chambermaids did each day and doing our room early in the morning. We are so grateful for the quality of service, how professional the entire staff was and the most enjoyable stay we had. Finally, the gentlemen (portals) who assisted us in getting a taxi everyday to attend our business meetings were so pleasant and helped us significantly. We have no Spanish and they made sure that the drivers knew exactly where we needed to go. We did not encountered any problems, but only a friendly staff who helped us frequently with a kind smile. This is a dated hotel where the rooms are old like American motels - grandma carpets, furnitures, tables, chairs, sofa, lamp even the power plugs are terribly positioned. What they excel in is their staff. The club lounge ladies especially Laura has been extremely helpful. She called at the outlets that might have my special climbing boots, ask for details that are relevant and very proactive and fast. Moreover, she's always cheerful and approachable. Susana the Guest relations manager was very fast to react. We had a some issues with our junior suite room and she address to the next day and upgraded us to a very nice room.
Intercontinental Barcelona and Madrid club room are disappointing when it comes to their happy hour hot food. They were poor quality and limited. What I like is their alcohol is free flow from 12pm-10pm.
Location of intercontinental Madrid is not at central of action but you can walk ~5min. to hop on and hop off bus. Also taxi is cheap and easy to find.
They have a spacious gym 24hrs, would be great if they can include some roller and some rubber bands for exercising. Only had a sauna hiding in the gym.
Overall we enjoy our stay here as most staff are always ready to help.

My daughter and I had the best stay at the InterContinental Madrid. The location was great and the service was impeccable. The hotel was lovely and our room was just right for our mother daughter weekend. The fitness center was adequate and we enjoyed massages by talented technicians in the wellness rooms. Everyone at the hotel was pleasant, welcoming and professional. Our concierge, Daniel, was especially exceptional. He was so attentive and helped us plan the perfect weekend. Of special note, he secured tickets for us to visit the Prado Museum, guided us with mapping out the best way to see the main sights we had prioritized and introduced some new ones for us such as the rooftop of the RIU for breathtaking views of Madrid. He also provided dining recommendations that we thoroughly enjoyed (especially Botin) and told us about the Rastro Flea Market. Jose in the lounge was also a delight. He cheerfully served us cava, cocktails and bar snacks during the evenings. The breakfast buffet was delicious, offering anything one could want with fresh and flavorful options. I will absolutely stay here again and recommend with confidence to anyone traveling to Madrid for business or pleasure.

Perfect location, beautiful setting and great service! Couldn’t expect less from an Intercontinental hotel and this one does not disappoint. Super close to all the Madrid attractions, we chose to take taxis back and forth which we found to be super affordable (didn’t try Uber on this trip).
The rooms are on the smaller side, consistent with all European hotels that are not new builds. There is a breakfast buffet option in the morning that has everything you can imagine to start your day and great drinks if you want to relax in the evening. Highly recommend it!

It's more than 20 years ago since I first stayed at the Intercontinental Madrid. Over all these years, it got some patina (especially the rooms/bathrooms), but if you enjoy a traditional luxury hotel, this one is a solid pick! As for rooms, I prefer the ones to the (noisy) street with balconies - but there are quieter ones towards the backyard. However, stay far away from the lifts.

This is my fourth time staying at the Intercontinental Madrid; 3 times back in 2008/2009, and just recently. I decided to stay here again based on previous experiences, but this will be the last time. It lost its grandness. Plenty of new 5* luxury properties in Madrid.
The location is great right on Castellana. The hotel is in dire need of a major renovation, nothing has really changed since the last time I stayed here in 2008/2009. We stayed in a junior suite (or what they call a family room) with Club Lounge access.
Breakfast buffet had plenty of options to choose from, hot and cold, and the service was rather friendly. One night we had dinner at the hotel, and it was disastrous. Two of the dishes they brought out we didn't order, but we were very hungry, so we had to settle. Service was that of a 2* restaurant. To make it up, they brought us "dessert" on the house; a couple of croissants with 2 small Nutella-like kid-size plastic containers. Not what you would expect from a luxury 5* property that often caters to diplomats.
The Club lounge was fine, quiet most of the time because of low occupancy. We didn't get to spend a lot of time at the lounge as we were out most of the time, but I did visit a number of times to drink some Cava.
It didn't really bother me that they didn't acknowledge our special occasion, what bothered me the most, aside from the overall condition of the hotel, is the attitude of the staff, with the exception of Daniel at the Club Lounge.
I had great memories in 2008/2009 at the IC Madrid, but sadly this will our last time there.
