This hotel was great location and nearby to Gran Via station (3 min walk). It is next to all the shops including Zara, H&M, Adidas etc., and has plenty of shops nearby to buy water and snacks. The best thing about the hotel was the breakfast and location. The downfalls were the rooms which were dated and they out two...

This is a fine 4 star hotel in the heart of Madrid, and its location alone makes it a fine place to stay. The hotel still lives a bit on past glory as the beauty of the lobby and wodden halls is not exactly reflected in the furnishing of the rooms. Nevertheless, staff is nice, friendly and helpful, breakfast is...

We walked everywhere from here - close to train station and central plaza (also close to the starting point of the Ogo Free Walking Tour!). Helpful staff and concierge. Beautiful classic bedroom, very quiet and comfortable.

Smooth check in, we had a good sized room on third floor. Breakfast was great, we tried the set menu in the evening which was even better and a really good price! Only minor quibble, it was advertised as smoking but they changed policy in January. A lot of people will see this as a plus, but it was what...

this is a very nice (and expensive) hotel in the Madrid centre. Room was very quiet and cosy, which was nice. Staff were the coldest I met, borderline to rude. Not once I was given any info about checking out, or where the dining room was or asked if I needed anything. then even their chambermaid staff didn't help themselves...

We stayed for 2 nights in early May. We booked a twin room and a double room. Check in was easy. Our twin room was clean and comfortable but quite dated. We were a bit surprised when we visited our friends 2 doors down, that their double room was completely renovated with a new modern bathroom. We felt a bit...

This hotel is in an excellent walking location for all the main sites in Madrid. The room was very comfortable and the concierge service was excellent. The breakfast had a wide range of choices and the service was good. What was such a lovely surprise was that one afternoon when we returned to our room there was a bottle of...

Great location, very central walking distance to many of the tourist haunts in Madrid. Great breakfast with good service and a wide range of fresh fruit. Unfortunately the Gym doesn’t open until 08:00, so not easy to fit in a session before meetings. The room and facilities are good the hotel is slightly old fashioned they still do a bed...

I want to acknowledge the excellent service from Daniel the concierge staff in helping me with direction to the hotel and also share this useful information with future travelers and hotel guests. I am surprised that these instructions are not already on each hotel FAQ,. Option 1 (recommended) - Regular Cabs:There is a law which guarantees every run from the...

The hotel is in a central location near to the main historic places. The hall is beatiful and comfortable. The room is very nice and clean. The only pity is the size of the double bed: really too small.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
