Myself and my partner visited Madrid for a week at the end of July 2017. This was a special holiday for us as we are expecting our first child and wanted to celebrate with a break away before the little one arrives.

We stayed for 4 nights in May 2017. The location is excellent, just minutes walk from lots of the main sites. It was easy to find (we came from the airport via 3 different metro lines and a short walk). The welcome was friendly. The...More
When ever we are in Madrid we always stay at La Pepa. Best location, supernice rooms and really, really nice staff. Especially the ever friendly and supercharming Susana. Can only recommend the place. The rooms are of a decent size. Really nicely decorated with small flamenco...More
This was an awesome option for this area - walking distance to park and museums. Great value for money. Good use of space. All staff we dealt with were excellent. We were lucky to have a room on the street side which was awesome to...More
Well located B&B, clean, offering basic breakfast. Very friendly staff, (some do only speak Spanish) . Ideal for group of friends. Light sleepers risk to be woken up by noise from breakfast area in the morning, as it is not separated (yet).

The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de
Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.

Unfortunately you don't have carte blanche when it comes to kitchen use. I don't think they would mind if you helped yourself to a hot tea or milk or water during some late hours but that area is primarily used for breakfast service and reception. When we stayed there we had a bit of time before we could check into our Airbnb and they were so kind as to allow us to lounge there for as long as we needed and even offered us up coffee or tea even though the breakfast service was done.

Favorite meal was at Muki which is right around the corner from La Pepa Chic. Best place for a drink was at sunset at the Ciculo de Bellas Artes. Had a fun meal at Meson del Champinon - they had live music and great mushrooms! We walked everywhere - very walkable city. Have fun!
