Not a typical B&B, more of a European Boutique hotel with European type breakfast included. The place is decorated so nicely....simple and beautiful! The location is AMAZING, so close to all the fun and sites in central Madrid, especially the museums and the Retiro Park (this like Central Park in NY, where you can have a great stroll and sit...

We stayed for three nights at La Pepa and totally enjoyed our stay! The location is great and within walking distance of everything you'd like to see in the city. Paula was super knowledgeable and gave us fantastic recommendations for dinner and museums.

A solo traveller, I stayed at Lapepa for 4 nights in May 2016 and was delighted with my choice of accommodation. Lapepa is centrally located close to the Prado Museum and the detailed, easy to follow map I received on arrival proved invaluable. It's important to know that none of the tourist kiosks I visited had this map. With it...

Thank you! I recently stayed at Lapepa and had a fantastic time. The location of the hotel is unbeatable, it was so close to all the art galleries and other attractions. We were checked in by Paula who could not have been more helpful and gave us so many great suggestions that made our stay even better. Thank you Paula!...

It is the ideal accommodation for people on a budget who don't need to spend time in their room. The room are very simple but clean with all what you need for a good sleep. Don't expect anything fancy. Staff is very friendly.

The Lapepa is located on the 7th floor of an office building directly opposite the Westin Palace Hotel but despite this less than imposing entrance this is a great place to stay in Madrid. The staff arre excellent, extremely helpful and full of ideas on what to do and see in Madrid. Whilst the rooms could be described as minimalist...

I found this place to be so cool, very fairly priced, and SO central! The only issue is it only has a dozen or so rooms, so it books up quickly. The rooms are smaller than you would expect in the USA, but normal for a central spot in a large European city. The owner/operator, Irma, is fantastic! And the...

We spent 5 nights in a standard double. The chic décor and clever design - you can't disguise the fact that the room and bathroom are very compact. The shower cubicle is the tiniest I've experienced - if you put your elbows out you bang into the sides! And I'm small! That said, all was clean, bed comfortable and our...

I can only echo what many earlier reviewers have said. If you are visting Madrid for its cultural resources, the location is ideal: 100 metres from the Thyssen museum, 200 from the Prado, 400 from Reina Sofia (and 500 from Atocha railway station if you are arriving by train, or visiting neighbouring towns). A short and direct bus ride to...

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighbourhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
