I feel the need to provide a recent review of this place. I almost paid for a room myself (to the tune of 60 Euro/night), but at the last minute shared a room with a friend who had already booked here. I'm glad I didn't pay, because I would have felt really foolish to spend that kind of money on...

I stayed here a couple of times and was given quite spacious, well-furnished, freshly painted rooms. The windows were double glazed. As noted by others the location and ease of finding is great. If you book day trips through Viator the tour operator is 2 minutes walk away. There were no problems at all with my first room, the second...

Arrived with a friend who speaks basic Spanish on Friday evening having pre booked with expedia and prepaid. The receptionist ignored us and spent 10 minutes looking for another guest's key. Upon finally receiving some attention, there was no smile or welcome of any sort, and they then demanded full payment again and would not back down. The lift was...

This hotel is half a block from the Metro station, a block off the Gran Via (and all the shopping) a block from two grocery stores, and right off of Plaza de España. The staff are so helpful, they even had a hairdryer to lend us! There are lock boxes downstairs and luggage storage. They serve breakfast in the morning...

I stayed here with a group of friends in March. The hotel is in a good location and is easily accessible from the airport. The check in was very fast and althought the rooms are basic they are clean. If you dont plan on spending much time in your hotel while in Madrid then this hotel is an ideal base....

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
