Hotel Orfila was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The building, rooms, decorations, food, and staff are all top line. In addition to the main points, little attention to detail made the experience unforgettable (a glass of cava while check in and bags are handled; booking taxi after we mentioned when we needed to be at the airport, fresh...

Orfila is a small, boutique hotel in a lovely and quiet residential neighborhood, yet it is a block and a half from the Alonso Martinez Metro stop. An old palace on a one-block street so hidden that our cab driver had to look it up on GPS. The staff is universally friendly, kind, and helpful...especially Jose Martin, the daytime front...

This is a very good hotel. It is small and friendly with a family run feel. The location is excellent as it is within a mile of the most famous attractions yet in a lovely quiet residential neighbourhood within a short stroll of many and varied restaurants. The public areas are very grand. The front of house service is first...

Check-in was fast and friendly. Everyone in the hotel is genuinely looking out for your best interest. The hotel sits on a quiet street and is within walking distance of many restaurants, bars, shops, and easy access to the city buses. We had drinks in the lovely courtyard, and breakfast in the restaurant. Best wifi service of any place we...

A small very Spanish hotel situated down a quiet back street very convenient for central Madrid.Staff very helpful and friendly.Room very comfortable and very well maintained.Small intimate restaurant and food in modern spanish style but well presented and exceptional service, perhaps a little expensive but this hotel is in the middle of a capital city. We would recommend it.

Staying in Chamberi

Neighbourhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighbourhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The small XIX century palace was transformed into a hotel in 1999, respecting the majestic style of the era, at the same time as installing all the appropriate commodities for a luxuorious establishment from the end of the nineteenth century. Only a year after it opened, the hotel joined the Relais Chateaux Chain of hotels, a group of the most prestigious hotels in the world. The hotels belonging to the Relais Chateaux must have 4 or 5 stars and less than 100 rooms, and be outstanding their strict respect for the five concepts that define the philosophy of this hotel chain: character, courtesy, charm and cuisine. ... more   less
