The room was clean, comfortable and perfectly located. It's near the station and close to Place Mayor. Very friendly and efficient service. Cheap and absolutely wonderful! Great vibrant part of Madrid.

Hostal Dulcinea is located near the Prado Museum. The small room was clean and comfortable and included a small, private bathroom and free wifi. There is a café restaurant right next door for early morning coffee and breakfast, (also with free wifi), as well as many choices of pubs and restaurants in the neighborhood. The location is convenient for walking...

Spent 7 nights in HD. Very helpful staff. Spotless rooms. A bit noisy during the day, but quiet at night. Secure and convenient to everything in the Las Letras area. Might not appeal to travelers who require a lot of amenities, but it was a great value for us.

The hotel is in Barrio de las Letras close to Plaza Santa Ana, whoch is a great location not far from the Prado and Thyssen museums. Hotel is on 2nd floor with a lift. It is a basic hotel, with the essential amenities at a budget price. The room was clean, bed comfortable and staff were helpful. Street side rooms...

nice budget accommodation. Clean, near Prado, but very small. Not the best choice for us on our first somewhat disoriented first night in Madrid after flying all day and night. I would have chosen someplace a little more spacious. Good price, good value, but very basic.

We just spent 5 nights at HD and it was perfect for us. The small rooms are spotless, bathrooms compact, but with all you need. Beds are very comfortable, room service every day, friendly staff that doesn't speak English but seem to understand. It's in a great location with good food nearby (if you like seafood, try El Barril de...

This place has a good location. It's very clean and neat. Feels like a small hotel, because they fix the beds and change the towels daily. But if you are a loud person, this isn't your place to stay!! There is a nosy guy "older" that will make you feel unpleasant and will make you feel bad ...!

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.

“All have A/C. Interior rooms tend to be quieter, unless other guests are particularly selfish. Street rooms have a small balcony but there is some noise from the quiet street. It's about as quiet as you could get this close to the centre of Madrid. I never visit Spain without taking earplugs! Where else in the world do you see traffic jams at 3 in the morning?”
