The hotel is great. My stay included the breakfast which I think is mediocre. The down side with a boutique hotel in the city center is there is no gym or anything like that. The hotel sign is not prominently displayed so make sure you remember the location (next to a Turkish treats store and a pharmacy). We stayed in a room on the sixth floor and the room is relatively big and amenities are adequate. My only complaint about the amenities is there is no kettle you can make tea for yourself. When we were there they were fixing some faucets or pipes and advised us not to drink the tap water. There are two small supermarkets nearby you can easily buy inexpensive bottled water and fruits and snacks as we did. Location of the hotel is amazing. But soundproofing of their rooms is something they need to address (noise from other guests in the hotel, not from the street, which is often boisterous during weekends or holidays).

A hotel located in the pedestrian area of Calle del Arenal, just a few steps from Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor, couldn't be better...practically Madrid at your feet!
Large rooms and excellent bathroom. Staff, both at reception and in the restaurant, were very attentive. What caught my attention the most was the honesty of the staff responsible for cleaning the rooms and floors... I had forgotten my I-PAD in a common area of the hotel; despite considering it lost (anything can happen in a common area), when I asked at the reception, I found out that a hotel employee had found it and handed it over to the reception to be handed over to the guest!...for this reason alone, the hotel deserves a thousand marks!

I can't say enough great things about this hotel. The location was in the heart of the city which made it easy to walk to all sites we wanted to visit. We had a room with a terrace which allowed us to sit outside and enjoy the view even though the weather was a little chilly! The staff was courteous and helpful and even left a birthday card in my room with some candies (much appreciated!) Everyone spoke English.

Some of the reviews and pictures on the website show glass bathroom doors. They must have updated them because ours was frosted across the middle which gave ample privacy.

The room was clean and spacious with a modern décor. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows. We had daily housekeeping without having to ask.

If I had to pick a negative, I would suggest that body lotion and tissues be included in the amenities.

We had a very enjoyable eight night stay and will definitely stay here again when visiting Madrid.

My husband and I were scheduled to visit Spain in March 2020 when the pandemic hit 3 days before we were to fly out. Like everyone else, we scrambled to get refunds or travel credits from all airlines, hotels, and the like.

Talia was the person who answered my emails about the possibility of getting a credit/voucher for future use. Though the policy was typically about one year before it would expire, Talia was kind enough to extend the credit, especially given the ever-changing landscape in both the US and Spain. Talia was amazingly generous with her time and effort trying to work with me (46 emails back and forth within 2 years) because I kept having to push the trip back.

We finally got to enjoy our stay at the beautiful Hotel Francisco I this past week. The hotel is centrally located to all the major sights and restaurants we bookmarked. The front desk staff I encountered frequently (Javier and Emilio) were very friendly and accommodating given my questions leading up to the day as well. Because our flight was landing around 9am in the morning and check-in isn't until 3pm, they offered the early check-in option for 40 euros. We gladly paid given our need to feel comfortable upon arrival.

The hotel including our room was immaculately clean and modern. The breakfast buffet included had a selection of different pastries, meats, cheeses, fruit, juices, and a coffee machine, all of which were covered or handled with care. The staff in the dining area constantly cleaned, so we always felt safe.

The only negative to note is that the walls are thin in the hotel and you can hear people in the hallway/elevator. However, the street noise is barely heard and honestly very quiet at night.

We would definitely come back and will be recommending this wonderful hotel and their staff to anyone! Thank you again Talia, Javier, Emilio, and all the staff we encountered during our stay!

We loved the location, the ease and our room was very nice! Bathroom has a shower, bidet and a nice hair dryer. We had a balcony as well. No noise from the street Our room was cleaned every day, and we had our clothes laundered (for a fee) and it was brought in a basket nicely folded. The front desk staff is very professional and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

I was hoping for a better quality hotel.
The location is perfect, you walk into the shopping street.
I didn't think the room itself was special, the bathroom was overdue and everything was very noisy.
The cleaning lady was vacuuming in the room next door at 8:30 am, what a noise...

A nice central position near Sol. The room was smaller than expected and, having looked in a few others, be aware that they vary a lot. Like all the rooms on the front, it did a tiny balcony, which gave a good view down the road. The metal shutters were very effective at cutting out light and possible noise from pedestrians. Modern decor, with a mini bar and a capsule coffee maker (although we had to ask for coffee and milk at reception). Breakfast was very good, with a cold buffet, plus a choice of waitress served cooked breakfast.Just one coffee machine though, with a perpetual queue. They really need to invest in a second machine!

This hotel did so many things well, but there were just a few missteps. We stayed in the Arenal Suite, which has a wonderful wraparound balcony with several seating areas, so there is always a spot in the shade. And the shutters that come down at night easily block all light. But there are no usb ports and the lighting is cold and not very enjoyable. The only tissues in the room were 6 cocktail napkin sized sheets in a vanity pack. Once in the shower, I found the soap dispenser completely empty and had to leave the shower to wrestle the container from its holder above the sink and take it back with me. There is no room service and, arriving in mid afternoon and hungry, we had to juggle plates, drinks and utensils ourselves up to the room. But the location is great and most of the staff very friendly and eager to be of service. I did appreciate their referral for airport transportation.

Stayed here for 4 nights and couldn’t be more pleased. The staff is very friendly, including the man and woman in the lovely coffee shop next to reception desk. Everyone speaks perfect English and was happy to answer any questions. Our room on the top floor was not large by US standards but seemed a bit larger than many Euro hotels. The bathroom has double sinks and a large shower. Plenty of hot water. The hotel is located on via del Arenal, which has all the shopping, restaurants, Starbucks and C stores one might want, about mid point between Puerto Del Sol and Plaza Del Isabelle II, with the amazing Prado and other a couple other museums another 7-8 minute walk from the former and the Palace and military museum about 3 minutes from the latter. Breakfast was great, and the elevator is larger and much faster than is often found in older buildings in Europe (and you’d never know this is an older building, it appears to have been totally renovated and there was no noise at all in the room. Beds were very comfortable.

I was staying with my daughter in this hotel in the heart of Madrid, on Arenal Street steps from Playa Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Mercado San Miguel, Chocolateria San Gines. The hotel has a very nice decor, the staff is very friendly and the breakfast excellent, very complete!! We were in a superior room with a small balcony towards the side street. At this point I want to clarify that we had reserved a premier room for 4 nights but as a result of the Dana that passed through Valencia (place we were going before Madrid) we had to make change of plans at the time and book another 3 nights in this hotel that because it was long weekend only had a double room to offer and that obviously we took. I explain all this to highlight and THANK the hotel for the upgrade we made to the superior room for the 7 nights we were going to be staying in this way avoiding having to spend the first 3 nights in double room and make the change for the other 4 nights to the premier room we had booked from BsAs. The room is large, comfortable, with closet, safe, refrigerator, various pillows, coffee maker with capsules, etc. The bathroom is large and with bidet but what I do not like is that the wall of the bathroom that overlooks the room and the sliding door to enter are glass🙄 although it is frosted (not everything) has above the door an open space🤷‍♀️ that takes away privacy. If you go alone it would not be a big problem, but already sharing a room is a little uncomfortable and if you wake up at night to go to the bathroom the light of it bothers the other person who is sleeping. It really is a detail that for me subtracts from this room that is of more category than the premier (in this one the bathroom has no bidet but if it is separated by wall and normal door)
From this hotel you can walk to many points of interest, but you have metro stations in Puerta del Sol and Plaza Isabel II. There are many places to eat or have a coffee around the hotel, and it is very close to Calle Preciados which is very commercial and El Corte Ingles.
