My first time to stay in Madrid so I wasn't quite familiar with the level of quality in hostel like establishment. Chose a room with a private toilet,. Got one. Which was so tiny my cramps got cramps. Location is great though for a first timer - very near Sol and Plaza Mayor. Many food places around to choose from....

Great location , basic clean rooms , Near Palza Mayor , Plaza del Sol and Merkato di San Miguel. But the main excellent thing about this hotel is the warm and helpfull Receptionst Antonio. He gave us all the usefull information about the best places to visit, restaurants ect. We were very lucky to get the best tips where to...

Excellent location - very close to Plaza Mayor and Sol; great pedestrian district with many restaurants close to the hotel . Helpful staff. Room basic but clean and bed comfortable. Scaffolding outside for building work but no disturbance.

My husband and I spent a night here to visit my father in law as he was staying at the hostel for 5 nights. We received excellent customer service from the moment we arrived (thank you Max and Jofre!!). It is in a perfect location and was ideal for us. Really good that there was free wifi and also a...

I am writing this review with my middle fingers. We had quite a terrible experience with la Perla Asturiana. Something had gone wrong with the reservation, where apparently an old expiration date for my credit card was used. Without having received any notice or a request to update the data, the reservation had been cancelled. When we got to the...

I booked in here after leaving the terrible Hostal Bahia. The staff were friendly and helpful even though they didn't have my reservation yet as I'd literally just completed it on booking.com. Had a single room with a private bathroom for two nights. Bed was comfortable, room was very clean, and the shower was very powerful. The staff were attentive...

All I can say is more than positive: excellent location, great service and very clean. I was traveling with two teenagers (16 & 17) and felt safe all the time. I had a three bed room with a balcony, Wi-Fi, private bathroom and air conditioning. Since we were traveling with backpacks, the lack of an elevator was not a problem.

First things first - this is a basic "hostal" which in Spain is like a budget hotel. If you are not expecting luxury La Perla will satisfy all your needs. The rooms are basic, but they are clean, and there is free wi-fi and air conditioning. It would be hard to find a better location - it's about 30 metres...

Horrible dank dinge room, with bad smell. Management has a disgusting attitude. Might stay here if I was homeless and someone else paid, No actually I would not – it’s that awful Do ANYTHING else, but DO NOT STAY HERE

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
