Noisy and cold in winter, but it is very close to the center. Heaters tern on only at 8 pm and they were barely warm.At night it is impossible to sleep from the noise in the corridor, and with courtyards.

We picked this as it is walking distance from the main station. Nice little find. Very basic but well maintained and clean. Friendly staff. Internet good in common areas, flakey in our room. No tea or coffee or mini bar but didnt expect it for the price. Good eating and drinking nearby.

Basic but very clean room, good security with buzz in system. we arrived on thursday left on saturday am was kept busy throughout as the hotel is in the heart of the city (for us) within walking distance of the railway station and main attractions.

We spent a weekend there. Location is really excellent on Atocha Road which leads to the Centre ( Plaza Mayor). Madrid is a running city - people are everywhere, each doorway is a tapas bar or restaurant:-) Railway station is 10mins walk from the hotel. Room was on 1st floor. It was supertiny-a doublebed and we cannot move at all....

We stayed for a week at San Blas, and I can confirm some of the complains: the rooms are not very large and the sound level can be irritating at times. But it only takes one night to get used to it and then you will see the good side of this place. The location is really good specially if...

The first thing welcoming us at the hotel was a giant bug! The recepsionist was so calm to see that. I think it is very usual to see a bug there. Told us that it was from outside! Surely they come from outside but why?? The room was not so clean at all. The blanket at the room had stains...

Stayed for 3 nights in March. As others have said it can be noisy so if you are a light sleeper you may wish to look elsewhere, I am not so the noise wasn't really a problem for me. The location is good, about 15-20 mins walk to Plaza Mayor and 5-10 mins from Caixa Forum and Prado Museum. The...

We chose this hostel because of the location. It was perfect since it was a 7 mins walk to Atocha Renfe, 2 min walk to Atocha subway and it was about a 20 mins walk to plaza mayor which is the centre of Madrid. The staff spoke english and was very helpful. The room was clean but the bathroom a...

The location is great but everything else here isn't. The rooms are small and you can here everything going on in the hotel. At the ground floor are some restaurant and the smell of food is everywhere in the building. If you don't have any other solution than is a good place to sleep one or two nights

    Staying in Lavapies

    Neighbourhood Profile
Walking into this neighbourhood is like entering a different country ... except it's hard to tell which one it is. One side of Calle Lavapiés is lined with Indian restaurants, the other with kebab shops. Men in traditional African clothing convene outside their businesses for long chats, and people shout to each other across plazas and streets. Interspersed among ethnic specialty shops are independent theaters and dance studios, and two large arts and cultural centers — the beautiful Casa Encendida and the Tabacalera, a former tobacco factory — all of which attract young crowds. Along Calle Argumosa, the place to go for drinks, artists and art appreciators with piercings and dreadlocks convene in the street’s eclectic array of young, hip bars. Though some of the side streets can get a little seedy at night, Lavapiés is still the place to go for those seeking a unique blend of arts and culture in an international and funky neighbourhood.
