The staff were friendly and helpful and even let you leave your bags there after check out if you want to do another lap around the town. The reason why i...

The room is big enough for 2 people, very convenient bathroom. Mini fridge that works properly and you can have and keep cold drinks in the room. Even if your room facing to street, the double glassing is very helpful to avoid noises. No problem at all they're charging everything on the check-in. Very clean. Breakfast is OK. The stuff...

The reception is on the 2nd floor, they charge you all the price during check-in (!). Room is not too big, standart size and clean. The building is very old, that's why the walls are so thin. You can easily hear every step of the people walks behind the door. Unfortunately we stayed with 30 italian high school students at...

Minus: Lack of a kettle and tea / coffee in the room. Plus: The ideal location for people who like to explore the city on foot. A small bottle of sparkling wine for "booking genius user". Very helpful lady at the reception. Good value for money.

Very clean room, the shower and the toilet seems passed the renovation nol long ago- everything was tidy and clean. For our stay (5 nights) the towels were changed almost every day, and the bed linen was changed twice. Heating was not always working in the bathroom and in the room, but there is an air conditioner. Cafe "Martin" downstairs...

It was nice because there was a grocery store around the corner. It should be noted, however, that dining an drinking (alcohol) in the room is forbidden according...

First, don't let be put off by word hostal. It is not hostel in (6 or 10 people sleep in one room and one bathroom for complete floor). It seems that term hostal is for hotel which is put in ordinary building transformed to be hotel instead of building made with purpose to be hotel. So, Hostal Abadia is 2...

the rooms are bigger then you'd expect from a hostel, and they're clean and always has hot water. the location is great, in walking distance to almost anywhere we wanted to go (about 10 minutes walk from plaza mayor and gran via, 15 min. from the prado), but the hostel itself is a bit hard to find on the first...

the hostel was smack right in central Madrid and was within walking distance from many attractions. The workers there were extremely nice and helpful and even though the room was quite small it was clean and the bathroom was quite modern.

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
