I have very good experience in this Hostal where I stayed 2 weeks, very good location, nice staff and security. Clean room, change towels, washing and dryer machine where you can wash and dry your personal clothes and next to Hostal they have a very good cafeteria where you can get an excellent breakfast for 4 Euros. Excellent location because...

This hostal is more like a motel. It is very clean and it's proximity to downtown and to the Metro is an asset. We were placed on a floor where they had communal bathroom-dorm style. The room we had was very basic but we had our private bathroom with a small balcony overlooking the street. The street noise didn't bother...

I stayed in this Hostal for 4 nights earlier this month. Fantastic groovy location in a great city apartment building. Close to almost everything for the walking tourist. However, no fault of the hotel of course but Calle Atocha does have a bit of a down at heel feeling to it except when full of people. And inside the Hostal,...

Helpful and friendly staff, nice, clean room (with a little balcony), the shower had good pressure, relatively quiet (some noise from the street) and location, location, location :) Only downside is the towels, they did not soak any water. Over all a recommendable place to stay!

Expect the best of Hostal features - simple, clean en suite rooms offering excellent price-quality ratio, friendly reception staff, plus a location that's handy for exploring central Madrid. Ask for one of rooms 321 to 324. Recently constructed and attractively decorated, they're larger with quality bathroom fittings. Minor downsides: rough towels that fail to dry and, in the early to...

I stayed there 7 nights. This is what I gotta say: - boring breakfasts (the same things everyday, very limitded choice of products) + great location + clean + comfortable + easy to find + friendly staff + travelled solo, got a double room :) I'd definitely stay there again.

I was satisfied with the hotel - my room was simple but clean, the location is very good having all parts of central Madrid (Sol, Tirso, Latina, Chueca, Atocha, Malasaña) in walking distance, and the price is good. Recommendable for a stay in Madrid.

We stayed for one night. Friendly staff, decent room but the bed was too small for us (we are above 1,8 tall). Also it was quite noisy because the room was situated in a students piso(floor). The breakfast was acceptable compared to other experiences we had in Spain. A good thing is that you can leave the baggage at the...

We chose this hostal mainly for its location. It was perfect for reaching most points of interest on foot. We knew it was a hostal and not a 4* hotel, which was reflected in the reasonable price. We had no exaggerated expectations and were on the whole satisfied with the quality of the accommodation. We had requested a quiet room...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
