We've been here on 2014 and we were happy to stay in this hostal. The rooms are simple and clean. It's located in the city centre so you can walk easily to some main attractions and there is a metro line closely. We highly recommend it!

Ideally located in Atocha . Metro stations Atocha and Anton Martin nearby. Train station 10 minutes on foot. Taxis 30 mins from airport. Short walks to Plaza Major and De Sol and amenities. Lovely staff. Clean, basic, quiet room. My partner and I arrived by taxis. Not sure if there is a facility for car parking. The area is quite...

We stayed two nights at this hostel. It was very centrally located (about 3 blocks from the Plaza Mayor), and about 1 block from the metro station. It is located in a safe area, with lots of good restaurants and shops close by. You can easily walk to the Plaza Mayor, La Latina, el rastro, Lavapies, and important Madrid sights...

This hotel is very well located near major sites and the metro. The rooms are fine, albeit a little basic. The wifi didn't work in my room. The bathroom is tiny but all you need. A little irritating to have to pay to use the safe. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The rooms are simple, clean, and safe. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic - less than a 5 min walk to the Plaza Mayor / Puerta del Sol, 10 min to the Atocha train station, 10 min to the Prado, 20 min to the Parque del Retiro... It's not fancy, but it's clean and feels safe...

I choose the hostal because the price they quoted came with a private bathroom and it was centrally located. Upon reaching there i felt it is better than usual hostal, more like a budget hotel. The lift is working fine, staff was friendly and helpful, the biggest advantage easily accessible from the train (renfe) station as well as the airport....

This hostel was very clean, excellent value for money and in a good location. Close to a metro stop with most sights close enough. Unfortunately they don't do breakfast , but there is a lovely coffee shop with sandwiches and croissants. I have used this hostel four times in about 10 years, friendly staff

Hostal Cervelo is within easy reach of several Metro stops which makes it very easy to access. It is in a good part of town for tourists, but may not be ideal from a safety perspective if you're travelling as a single female. We arrived at the main property and were told that we were going to be accommodated at...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
