This hotel is near to key & relevant Metro stations for the centre of Madrid. It is in easy walking distance of The Prado and is even nearer to Plaza Mayor. It was a good enough stop for our long weekend in Madrid.

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW
Reviewed 28 December 2016

We stayed for a day from 19th till 20th December 2016. A lovely hotel in an old building. The sitting area in the courtyard was quite unique. People at the reception were very welcoming. They checked us in early which was of great convenience. The hotel has lifts and in addition a grand staircase reminiscent of the history of the...

booking a room for the night of the 25th, to break up our journey from Zamora to Malaga, I was asked to update my credit card details. A very good four star hotel in Madrid with a fantastic location that is just 5 mins walk to the Plaza Mayor square. I ordered a room with street view and it was spacious, clean and more importantly comfortable beds and pillows. They have an afternoon team session with complimentary tapas and non alcoholic drinks at the lobby from 5-8pm....

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.

You need to convey that you want a balcony, and I believe you have to be street side which is really nice. The room is quiet, and they so have a fridge.

Hi,

3 ways you have:

1. By taxi and appr 30-40 min and min 30 Euro.

2. By airport Bus from airport to Atocha railway station. Need either a min 10 min walk or metro to Anton Martin station after Atocha to the hotel,

3. By using metro, it takes appr. 1 hr, and you will use 3 Lines

For metro, you are buying combined tickets, 12 Euros Per Person and the lines are:

1. L8 - frm Aerropuerta T1,T2,T3 -T4 to Nuevos Ministerios,

2. L10 - frm Nuevos Ministerios to Tribunal

3. L1 frm tribunal to Puerta del Sol.

4. max 5 minutes walking frm Puerta del Sol to Hotel.

have a nice holidays,

The stadium Santiago Bernabeu is about 5 to 6 km north of Hotel Catalonia Puerta del Sol.

I would say it would take over an hour to walk to there from hotel.

Take bus, or metro or taxi to the stadium if you'll be staying at Catalonia Puerta do Sol, it's a nice hotel with restaurants, grocery store and museums within walking distance.

I travelled to the Hotel Puerta del Sol from the Airport. Although there is a bus service to Atocha Station I took a taxi for speed and comfort. It was not very expensive. Travelling by train will terminate at either Estacion del Norte or, to the south east, Estacion de Atocha. The hotel is roughly midway between them but would entail a walk of over a kilometre. With heavy baggage I recommend taking this short journey by taxi.
