Amazing location, nice clean rooms and the staff are lovely! 'Bazaar' restaurant is a must and another lil' Italian that’s called 'Grazie Mille' (Calle Mayor) is absolutely divine! Must see: Palace and Retiro Park which is very peaceful!

A lovely hotel in an excellent location in Madrid. It is right in the centre and so easily accessible to all the main sights. We found it handy to split our sightseeing into two days for each side of the city and the central location of the hotel made this very easy to do. The hotel itself is very clean...

This hotel is central to everything in the city and easily accessible by Metro. it was comfortable, modern, clean and the staff were terrific in giving help and with their general friendliness. Some previous reviewers were put off by the location and the presence of local prostitutes (male and female) but we just thought it gave the place character and...

My wife and I have just spent three nights at the Siete Islas and could not be more pleased. Our Suite (more like a Junior Suite) was spacious, with a large terrace overlooking Madrid's rooftops. The bathroom and wardrobe were very large, and cleanliness was spot on throughout. The breakfast buffet is quite substantial, consisting of a typical continental, supplemented...

We were lucky with this hotel: very close to the gay area, very gay friendly and very good service! The only remarks are: * check the airco before new guests arrive (in our case the airco was not working, but we got directly another room); * the breakfast was good, but could be much better if the bacon was crispy...

Staying in Malasana

Neighbourhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
