Very nice hotel located in the heart of Madrid. You can go almost everywhere (in the city centre) on foot! Very close to all museums (Prado, Thyssen Bornemisa, Reina Sofia), the Royal Palace (Palacio Real), all the famous Plazas (Mayor, del Sol, Santa Anna) and to all famous attractions (Flamenco stages, tapas bars). Average rooms, but yet very clean (rennovated...

We were in Madrid in April last year and for our return this year, we decided to go back to the Quatro Peurta del Sol. We weren't disappointed. There were 3 of us and last year we had a large corner room that another reviewer mentioned. This year we had a slightly smaller room which was fine for us. The...

Smack bang on the heart of city. Very couteous and friendly staff. Rooms were clean and tidy. Bathroom was a bit outdated, had a minor problem with the flush but nothing of a headache. Our UK appliances required a multiplug (adaptor) which the staff were happy to provide. Walking distance to all tourists attractions. Good eateries nearby. Comfortable beds to...

This was my first hotel in this last tour I made to Europe, my end of March tour, will be reviewing hotels in Madrid, Paris and Venice. Location: Very good indeed, within a short walk to the Puerta del Sol square. This is the main reason to be in this hotel. Room: I arrived around 12:00 the receptionist tried to...

Perfect location within easy walking distance of most major sights helps cancel out active construction/renovation project across the street. Upper floors quieter. Helpful staff. Good buffet breakfast with eggs, yogurt, fruit and cappuccino machine that is kept very busy during peak periods. Close to Supermercado El Corte Inglés, a large supermarket, just off nearby Puerta del Sol, a busy plaza...

Quatro Puerta del Sol is located at the center of Madrid-you couldn’t have asked for a more perfect location. It’s between the Prado and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum (10 min walk) and Royal Palace of Madrid (15 min walk). It is 4 min walk to metro station Sol and Puerta del Sol. The staff is very helpful-they booked me a ticket for...

Just checked out this afternoon after a lovely 3 nights here! The hotel is probably not a 4 star so don't go in expecting that. What it is, is a decent 3 star, right in the centre of Madrid, close to loads (and I mean loads!!) of restaurants, tavernas, cervezerias, shops, museums and the Royal Palace. It's perfect! It's clean,...

Nice little hotel right in the heart of the city. Close to shops, bars and restaurants. (And a lovely little tapas bar right next door!!) Handy for all the local attractions and close to Sol Metro and Sevilla metro. Decent eurpoean breakfast with a twist and plenty of options. Have stayed there on numerous occasions and will stay again.

Stayed here 2 night's ago, and still recovering from a lack of sleep. Beds are hard, with unforgiving springs and seriously awful pillows that offer no support. Resulted in barely sleeping during our two night stay. The room itself is awkward - the bed is set at an odd angle with little room to negotiate around. Heating in this hotel...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
