Most of the amenities, the beds, the rooms and common areas are just average but get the job done. The staff are cold and not particularly helpful, breakfasts are really basic and probably not worth going to but you get what you pay for, wifi isn't particularly strong in the 6 bed dorm. The insistence that checking in early or...

It's not the nicest hostel, but it's cheap and it'll do the job just fine if you're in Madrid for one or two nights. Location is good, beds are comfortable enough, although the bathroom area does smell a little weird. Nothing unbearable though, and for the price, you can't be too bothered.

This is a great option if you're looking for a place to sleep before catching an early flight, but I don't recommend staying more than one night here. I didn't bother showering here, as the bathrooms were kind of smelly (and the smell leaked throughout the whole floor), and there was no hand soap in the bathroom I used. There...

-Otherwise I didn't sleep well for at least one of my seven nights at Hostel Era. Yes, Madrid is a big city with lots of trafic, but having a crossing just outside the room, beeping and beeping the whole day and most of the night, was very bad. But much more unneccesary noise where on the other side of the...

Absolutely loved this hostel, it was small, cute, nice and clean. For the price i paid I think this hostel offered more than enough. Breakfast was included which is always a huge plus for me. It is located in chueca which is one of the nicest areas in the whole of madrid, especially if you are up for bar hopping...

I stayed in Hostel Era for 2 nights. Good location and nice staff. But not very satisfied with the whole experience. Low levels of hygiene, hot water was not available in the chilling December weather, soap and tissue packs were rarely refilled. Better options can be available for this price.

Good location and good price this hostel. Fairly everything's are clean and a big kitchen and a lounge. Friendly receptionists and gave me good information about the Madrid. However, the entrance door is hard to open. They have to sort it out the problem as soon as possible. The rooms are clean and big enough with lockers.

First of all it is really hard to find, the beds are in a very noisy area. They try to charge you for every little thing. if you want to stay after you check out to use the wifi they try to charge you an extra 5€, they also charge 1€ to keep your luggage which isn't much but I've...

The hostel is clean and in a central location. The bed is comfortable, there is a locker for valuables and there is air-con. However, you have to ask the receptionist to operate it as they keep the remote control. There is a microwave and fridge but no stove or utensils for cooking. So you can make sandwiches and boil water...

For the price this place rocks. Shared rooms are always hit and miss depending on who you end up sharing with.. The staff here are amazing and will do their best to help you during your stay. 24 hour front desk so no matter when you arrive there'll be someone there.. Free breakfast is basic but for free who cares?...

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
