We spent one night in Madrid on our return from US to South Africa and we could not have picked a better location. The hotel was nice,, clean and conveniently located. Staff was very helpful. As we arrived from the airport early much before the check in time they were accommodating and gave us our room. The hotel is right...

Great location, friendly staff, nice room. Not much to complain about - but there was NOWHERE in the bathroom to hang bath towels, so some hooks/towel racks should be added. Also, we had purchased yogurt to eat for breakfast and we're keeping it in our mini fridge. However, that evening we came back to the fridge door left open. I...

If you've never been to Spain, ok, stay there or around Puerta Del Sol. That's the only reason why I rate it as average. Other than this you're better served staying away from the area and from the hotel. Our room had a very noisy AC system, and one of the beds was simply not fit for use: the slightest...

Superb location, Great staff, Sonia, Esperanza, Irene, Daniella, Pablo and Miguel are true ambassadors of the Spain hospitality. 50 meters from the station Del Sol perfect location to commute via Metro, Renfe or bus. One suggestion: each room should have a Welcome booklet with information pertaining phone calls, metro, renfe and bus services.

We had three nights here and were glad it wasn't longer. The hotel is what you'd expect - a generic beige room - pretty basic but clean and comfortable. Disappointed at the lack of hanging space and lack of any drawers. We didn't sleep well due to late night revelers keeping us awake but that's not the hotels fault. We...

I would have given a better review overall, but the place requires renovations. There was broken down formica in the room and some of the furniture was shot. The front desk people were helpful and the location was nice.

Better than expected, especially the great central location, just two minutes away from metro station Sol. One negative comment (and I'm sorry to write it ): there was an unpleasant smell of mold or moisture inside the bathroom, perhaps due to the shower walls that did not dry quickly, but if the bathroom door is closed, this smell doesn't get...

I often choose this hotel because right downtown and very comfortable. The rooms are vwry spacious. The only little problem is that you hear quite a lot of noise from the road at any hour. Of course you are downtown. Closer there is also a parking lot. The breakfast is very reach, with a lot of variety of food also...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
