We stayed three weeks in this 6-story tourist hotel and loved it in spite of the street's noisy nightlife. (You might like to ask for a room off the street.) Puerta del Sol is a vibrant square in the heart of Madrid, with lots of shops, cafes, restaurants and the city's largest department store, "El Corte Ingles." There's a Metro...

The hotel staff were very friendly and attentive. The location is perfect. However, when we checked in, we were told that the elevator was broken and we had to use the service elevator to get to our room on the 6th floor. The service elevator was in the back and very small. When we got to our room, it was...

For those who are looking for a simple hotel but with great location - I highly recommend it. Yet, the rooms are VERY small - it is a classic 3 stars hotel It is not fit for families rather more to couples of friends.

The hotel is nice (rooms are not big, but highly decent and clean). The location is perfect for visiting the town and prices are acceptable. Staff people are kind and willing to provide you with information and suggestions

Dear Friends, During our November 2016 holidays we stayed here in Madrid. The hotel is located in superb area. The room offered to us was on the 6th floor. It had a huge balcony. We 9 friends partied there on 12th night. One of the best hotel we stayed during our trip. Most recommend hotel for your Madrid stay.

It is in a good strategic location. and we found it to be clean and good value for price. But being near the elevators made our sleep slightly disturbed because of people talking and making noise. The doors by the way have no peepholes.

This hotel is in an excellent location in Puerta del Sol. Easy access to all the various sites. We had read some reviews about the rooms being noisy. We asked for a room on a high floor and the room was away from the Main Street with no noise at all. Room was always cleaned well and the rest of...

we got a big room for 4 people and it was everything we expected as size goes.. balcony was bigger than it appeared on the pictures. the only thing that bothered us a bit was the bathroom door, which is a stained glass door with no lock and huge gaps on the top and bottom, kinda like a public restroom...

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
