Very nice presented hotel, rooms were large and clean. Staff were wonderful especially Eva, she was extremely helpful, her English was impeccable and always smiling and friendly. If all hotels had a member of staff with this calibre of efficiency and care none would ever have a problem. Everybody said hello and was welcoming. I will stay again and highly recommend. Well done Eva superb job.

Positives: great central location. Nice staff. Negatives: terribly shabby, starting from the lobby area, into the rooms. Think ripped wallpapers, cracked tiles, chipped bath tubs, limescale-encrusted shower heads. The hotel needs some urgent and major renovation. Plus our room wasn’t just tired looking: it was not clean. Dust on the doors, major dust on the air vents in the bathroom. What you would sort of expect from a scruffy one star motel out of town, not from a major chain like Petit Palace. Not worth the 4*prices we were charged for our stay. We’ll let the photos of our room speak for themselves. On a positive note, after raising our concerns with the duty manager Ms. María (very professional and courteous) she moved us to a nearby hotel part of the same chain, where our experience was far superior.

I cannot recommend this more for location. We had a fab time being basically 5 paces from the Plaza Major.....and walking distance from the Prado down calle Bolsa. Breakfast was good enough, but again room a bit small and shabby although not bad, just not good value for money.....

Hotel supposed to be a 4 star hotel. The carpet on corridors were a little bit dirty. Disappointed on bedroom. Pillow so hard (get a neck pain), some hole on the wall. No kettel on room had to ask for a cup of tea at the reception. Shower ok. Breakfast quite good. View from the room a disaster.

First of all the positives: 1) good location in the middle of the Madrid chic shopping/restaurants/business district of Serrano/Castellana and still in a reasonably quiet & leafy side street. 2) Super friendly, smiling helpful staff, ladies you save it all, they welcomed me with a smile after a grueling flight, check in/out done in seconds, kept my luggage, booked a cab the day after, muchísimas gracias. 3 ) Good buffet breakfast with extensive choice of eggs, cereals, cold cuts, espresso machine. 4) Good, large bed with firm mattress & plenty of pillows. The less good things: Lobby is NOT welcoming with its white bright/blinding lights, empty spaces, looks an east German psychiatric hospital to me. Same for breakfast in the cellar... depressing. Same for the common areas & lift where there is a strange smell of old laundry and funny noises from the lift. Rooms reasonably clean to me but some flaked paint in the bathroom, old furniture (a cupboard without shelf, did not close neatly, batteries of the TV remote nearly exhausted, even adjusting the volume was a pain), super noisy A/C spoil the design of the room and actually the whole experience. On TV, large (Grundig) screen but only a few (Spanish) channels work. Old style (paying) useless minibar, 2 free bottles of water & tea/coffee facilities would have been more useful. So all in all, not a bad experience but its is a pity wonderful staff & location is spoiled by a lack of maintenance & style.
