We booked at Mucho as we needed one night between travel and the entire city was booked up due to a few large conventions in town. Now I'm not a big Hostel person at 53. Been there, done that. BUT Mucho Madrid reminded me that there are some fantastic Hostels out there and that I should never count them out...

Situated on a busy street in the center of the city, Mucho Madrid was in a great location for this tourist. It is small, perhaps cozy better describes the hostel. This seventh floor gem is serviced by two separate elevators so no real issues with access. The rooms are basic but clean which is a huge plus. Despite the close...

The hostel is located very close to the Plaza España, from there it is easy to walk everywhere (20 min to Museo del Prado) and there are many restaurants and supermarkets. The rooms and kitchen are clean and breakfast is good. The staff was very nice and helpful!

I was thrilled to see that the hostel was clean and maintained so well. As it is located in the main Street, it is easily accessible and the receptionist was down to earth. Guided us in the travel plans. Totally worth every penny.

This hostel was such great value we just got a twin room. It was very modern and the room and bathrooms immaculately clean the whole stay. The breakfast was a bonus. I would say it's not as sociable as hostels can be with no communal area to sit in but other than that I would recommend it, great location.

When we arrived we thought it was a hotel. It was clean and well presented. However for backpackers wishing to meet people it was not great. Had to be quiet as family's were staying there. Breakfast was included and good. I would stay here again if I could not find a real back packers place. 4/10 for what we wanted

The staff were really helpful, particularly Alexandra. Breakfast is unto 11am, so you can have a proper sleep in. And the building has been recently renovated (March 2015) so the rooms are very new and comfortable. Would recommend this place for sure.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
