A disappointment. In my review it is not a 5-star hotel. Leave much to be desired. You enter the hotel and find a staircase to access the reception. It is not comfortable although it is true that the receptionist helped us with the bags upon request. They gave us a dwarf room. The toilet separated from the bathroom but also dwarf and uncomfortable. The corridors are dark, there's no light. The same goes for the bathroom. The laundry drawers and safe are on the closet floor which means you need to crouch down for everything. Very uncomfortable. We moved from room to a larger superior but the same in terms of lighting and drawers. The mattress pretty bad. Your partner moves and you move too and vice versa. Unfortunately they were in the kitchen. The breakfast pastries are individually sealed in plastics......hard, not pleasant, but the coffees left much to be desired. You can order the coffees from the waiters and they also have a self-service coffee machine in the restaurant that did not work well, in fact one day nor did it work. The room was paid in advance and when you check in you are asked for a credit card that is normal for extras but what is not normal is that you are charged € 50.00 for each night you are that you are obviously credited on departure. This hotel could really do a great deal better if they just tell the guest a bit more about what they have. We only found the rooftop bar at the end of our stay and despite it having average views it was clearly very popular. Then there is the speakeasy bar which we only found by accident just as we were leaving! Otherwise, everything was pretty much as expected. The room was pretty dark and it was unclear how we could moderate the fierce air conditioning. Breakfast was very good, though yet again more could have been done to advertise the eggs.

This hotel does not seem like a 5-star hotel at all to us:
1. The beds are the hardest I have ever experienced in my life. My back still hurts. 2. Breakfast is a real disaster, the coffee machine doesn't work or doesn't have water. Dirty glasses and plates. The tables are also very dirty. They had repeated the same fruit from the previous day. 3. In the hallways of the rooms it is seen that they have had humidity problems, since most of the skirting boards are raised or damaged because of it. For a 5 star hotel, would it be best to change them??? To fix them they have put tape... a real piece of trash. 4. At night you could hear the noise of the music from the penthouse bar, especially when you went down with the elevator.
The only positive thing it has is the staff, who are very friendly, but this hotel is not a 5-star hotel...far from it.

My wife and I stayed here on our way back home. The hotel is quite lively which is nice during the day and evening. Unfortunately it kept going late into the night and we heard other guests coming and going on our floor until the wee hours of the morning. Spain is a country of night owls, so not surprising but a bummer if you have an early flight.
I have to give a special shout out of appreciation to the doorman/bellman Javier M. who was just delightful. He was very friendly, efficient moving bags, summoning a taxi or anything else that was needed and always with a smile. There was also a male waiter Demetria in Casa Suecia, the restaurant and bar in the lobby of the hotel who was equally delightful and hospitable.

Oh boy.....where to start. Never having driven in Madrid, getting to the hotel in a rental car stressed our marriage. However, once outside the hotel, in a limited restricted parking area, the staff took over. Our 4 large bags disappeared out of our car and reappeared in our room after we dropped our car off at the rental place. Daniel V. was awesome in this regard and gave us helpful guidance every time we asked. Our first room happened to have a young child next door that was causing a great deal of noise. An apology for the inconvenience and a complimentary upgrade sorted that out immediately. Marta and Javier R. at the front desk were instumental in getting us settled. Daniel V. had our bags moved before we got to our second room. This gesture was truly appreciated after 30 days of living out of suitcases. The staff was very helpful on tourist stops, what to avoid and restaurants. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel if you want to experience excellent staff service as well as a good location.

Quite Honestly one of the best Hotels we have stayed in while in Europe, The main reason was the Staff from arrival to leaving they were All simply Amazing.The rooms were Large and modern spotlessly clean to we had amazing views from our room on the top floor. The bathroom was clean modern and had everything we needed! Breakfast was great lots of fresh food and so much selection. We used the guest services desk to help us find our way around and book a Flamenco show the 2 ladies who helped us were awesome, they went out of there way to make our experience so good an absolute credit to the Hotel! The Hotel is in a perfect location too 10/15 mins to the centre of everything and down a quiet street beside a Theatre! Where ever we go in the world from now on we we look at staying at the NH Collection hotels first for sure. And really feel I need to say it once again thanks to the staff everyone of them were a credit to the hotel.

The Hotel is located in an excellent position but has shown serious shortcomings that are not acceptable for a 5 star. During lunch at the restaurant we found several hairs inside the plate. After reporting the matter, the dish was changed without any apology or justification. We then had a negative surprise when paying. After the first night we asked for a room upgrade. The person at the reception found the room and told us (both my wife and I understood the same) that the cost of the new room was more than 50 euros per night. Checking the bill after having already paid we realized that we had been charged 50 euros per night but also the additional cost of the room, something that had not been mentioned to us. For us the added cost was only 50 euros per night. After my protests we were only given a discount of 50 euros. I think that a renowned and high-level chain like NH cannot afford certain behaviors.
