We requested a room with a view and when we arrived we were given the option between two different rooms! The room was clean and comfy with a small balcony that over looked the plaza. The receptionists were extremely helpful with everything from directions and booking train tickets for us. We also opted for breakfast, it's a great selection of... More

Great location, just off the Plaza de Santa Ana...our room looked out across the narrow street to the old building across the way. Delightful! The Plaza has all the food and drink you could want. And the Hotel's location is easy walking to all the top sights. Its a short walk to the Metro if needed, although the Renfe station... More

We have just came back from a 5 night holiday in Madrid. We stayed at hotel Miau, which we weren't too sure about after booking. When we arrived the lady behind the desk spoke okay English and was very polite. She gave us a choice of two rooms and recommend which one was going to be the quietest. We chose... More

Hotel Miau is in a great location! Walking distance to so many restaurants and squares and close to the metro service. The reception staff was extremely helpful with directions and anything we requested. Breakfast is served in the next door café, basic but very fresh. Our room and bathroom was very small but comfortable. Overall a pleasant experience and good... More

the location was very central to all the good eating spots and big plazas in madrid. the rooms are big and spacious with even a couch inside. I also liked the balconies theyre wonderful to just sit in and gaze at the people and street below. They even provided an iron when I requested for one. The only drawback to... More

It's always hard to tell how long it will take getting from a chosen hotel to various sights -- until you get there and see for yourself. Hotel Miau is next to pedestrian-only streets, making the major art galleries are an easy 15-20 mins walk. The staff were always welcoming, friendly and helpful -- and emailed us directions from the... More

Very convenient right on Placa Santa Anna. Walking distance to everything. Do not expect luxury for the very reasonable prices in the centre of a major world Capitol but clean, convenient and pleasant staff.nice tapas on the square 30 seconds walk away.

This hotel is right along a popular square and you can hear music and laughter from early afternoon until evening. Lots of strolling musicians, lovely outdoor seating and plenty of ambiance. It is easy to get anywhere you wish to in the older part of Madrid - and the Prada was just a nice walk. It is convenient to the... More

The hotel is in the center of Madrid, walking distance from everything. When I arrived the elevator was broken so out of order but the staff offer me their help for the luggage so really kind. First impression was not good but desk clerk was friendly and helpful and rooms were clean. Location was GREAT! Madrid hotels in this area have crazy prices, particularly on weekends. Reserve well in advance. Expect 2 star quality at 4 star prices.

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
