A quiet and very clean hostel that is very close to Atchoa station and the major museums in Madrid, no more than a 10min walk to each. The owners are very friendly. The neighborhood is a little upscale and so are the restaurants. Personally, I like the western side of Madrid's city center rather than the eastern side, but the...

I chose Hostal Bruna for a one night stay passing through from Madrid to Sevilla by train as it was located within an easy 8 minute walk to Atocha station and was also perfectly located right across from Museo del Prado. The room was small but clean, and the room was reasonable quiet also. There were plenty of food options...

This hostal is in a great location. It is about a 10 min walk from the train station and just across the street from the Prado art gallery. There is no meal option at the hostal but there are plenty of cafes outside on the street. The beds are comfortable and the rooms very clean. Rooms are small but adequate.

The hostel occupies a floor in two separate buildings, one closer to Paseo del Prado, and another just a couple of buildings away, behind it. On my first two nights, I stayed at the hostel closer to Paseo del Prado. It felt homey because the owner and his family lives there. I like that the single room here has a...

Excellent location. Near lots of lovely restaurants, cocktail bars and a variety of "eateries". Handy for a number of metro stops and the Atocha main train station is only a 5/10 minutes walk away. Cleaned daily with fresh towels too. ONLY issue was double bed very small, more like queen size.

It's funny.... I read the other reviews, whether 1 or 5, and...I agree with them all. Most important: spotlessly clean, safe, reasonably comfortable, and a fair price. And so convenient! An easy 10 minute walk to the Atocha train station and probably 10 minutes to the Prado, Botanical gardens, etc. The list of eating places right outside the door is...

The hostal is located only a short walk from the train station and the bus which drops you off from the airport. It is family-run, and the couple that checked us in were very patient with my basic, GCSE Spanish (although they have a daughter that speaks English). It is rather loud, and the room was quite basic (with a...

The room was not as showed om the photos. Almost no light, dark. Old-fashoned brownish. Nothing in it to make it nice, no pictures on the wall. Like a prisoncell. Window very small and towards other windows at the back of the bulidning. Voices and sounds from other places in the house came in to the room. But clean and...

Staying in Huertas

Neighbourhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighbourhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighbourhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
