This is a great, no frills place if you need a place to sleep. It is clean, location right smack in the middle of everything. Close to Gran Via, bars/restaurants and shops. The staff is very friendly and the room ok, especially considering the prize and location. The rooms face inwards, so no views, but the advantage is that it...

I really wanted to like this place as a friend had said it was good value and comfortable. That was not my experience! I had a cell-like single room on the right hand side of the reception, which I wouldn't have complained too much about if it had been €25 for the night, but it was €50. I had to...

The hostel is situated in a wonderful neighbor in Madrid, many stores, restaurants and nightlife. The room was clean, the bed comfortable but the room need a bit more sound proofing, the noise of the others rooms and corridor bothered me, mainly in the morning when I still was sleeping. The wifi cut off all the time and the shower...

We stayed here for 4 nights, the staff are very friendly and helpful especially Izaak, the hotel is less than 2 minutes walk from Gran via and the metro station which we didn't need to use as most of the attractions are walkable. The room is spacious, very clean and comfortable.

We spent 4 nights at Hostal America in the end of October. It is located on the 5th floor - the top floor of the building. Traveling with us was my 85 year mother and therefore we were very happy that the elevator was working all the time, There is a nice, sunny reception area with two sofas, coffee- and...

Absolutely loved Madrid so we popped in for an additional night on our way from Sevilla to Barcelona. This was the only Hostel we stayed in on our 3wk trip in Spain. It was a pleasant surprise. We had our own bathroom with bath and shower. It is so central and the city vibe and buzz is what we were...

We visited this hotel in July 2014. We were with 2 children and our friends were with 3 children, one of them 1 year old only. We really liked this place. Very friendly guys at reception, they were always ready to help with any problem. The location of the hotel is perfect. Rooms were rather simply furinshed, but everything was...

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
