Dirty hotel, broken shower, mattresses old and therefore uncomfortable, receptionists not kind at all. Unfortunately I have to stay here sometimes for job reasons, but I would never book this hotel on my own.
One of the best rooms I have ever had the opportunity to lodge in for work. Very spacious, beautiful view on the sea and the SALERNO coastline. Pleasantly pleased with the desk providing more than enough working space and adequate chairs as well!
Location - Very central to main Salerno train station and town centre.
Rooms- very 1970's style. Basic at very best. Shower is so so.. plus point - rooms are very large and spacious. Bed was comfortable. WI-FI was only partly working at points...
Grand hotel Salerno is about the only hotel that has sea views in Salerno. Quiet a majestic hotel by Italian standards. Rooms are huge & the breakfast room is another huge room that can accommodate many guest at once. Wifi very poor except if you...More
We stayed in Salerno as part of a large group; the experience was everything you'd expect for a hotel at this price point. Rooms were a good size and clean - the sea views were fantastic; the overall experience relatively basic but perfectly adequate.

I can't help you with the train station as I didn't use it. I can tell you though that there are two stations for the ferries. The one is only a 5-minute walk from the hotel and it is where the boats for Amalfi and Positano dock. The other is literally at the other side of the town, even further than the historical center. It is not a distance that I would feel comfortable walking if I had a boat to catch; though I did it as a walk one evening. From there you take the ferry for Capri. I think though that the taxi fare is around 5 euro for that distance; if that helps.
