No room service, pool, restaurant and bar only for taking to the room, yet full price charged. The breakfast would not feed a mouse, the only 4 star part was Nicola who served breakfast and was attentive to all customers. It’s not 4 star but 3 star at best.

This is NOT a four star at the very most motel. The rooms are outdated. Water comes out yellow for the first couple of minutes and breakfast is basic. The hotel would be great if they take away two stars from the four. Four makes you think of some more comfort. Rooms are big. Outdated and old but large. It is centrally located and the staff is for the most part helpful, except when asking for parking suggestions. The hotel has so much potential just needs a MAJOR update

The hotel,is rather dated from another era , might have been luxury in its day ! But it has seen better days and the staff is Indifferent to pleasant depending on who you speak with. The rooms are not the most comfortable , our room faced the rear of the hotel , in other words we faced an alley and the rear of other buildings. The wi fi was terrible and the tv remote was to difficult to use . Breakfast was not what we were expecting from the pictures but it had to do , the coffee was not the best . BUT the location was great , we got up early and went for a walk along the frontage and views of the Amalfi Coast were spectacular…where the mountains reached the water. There are small businesses and cottages dotting the waters edge . We had dinner at a very good Pizza place a block away behind the hotel and that was very nice .

I enjoyed staying at the Grand Hotel Salerno very much. The services at the hotel were impeccable, the staff was very nice and the food there was delicious. Every morning we had a big breakfast buffet with many options to choose from, at lunch and dinner the menus included a variety of italian dishes, which were all very tasty. The rooms are spatious, every day the cleaning staff came and cleaned our rooms. The view from our room was splendid, it was a true pleasure to watch the sun rise from the balcony and see the lights at night along the Amalfi coast. It was very easy for us to travel to various different tourist attractions, because both the train station as well as the tourist harbour were 5 minutes away. Grand Hotel Salerno is a great place to stay in and travel around. The hotel has many facilities, including a bar, underground parking garage and an indoor pool. I am looking forward to returning soon to this hotel, as I enjoyed everything it had to offer. I strongly recommend staying at this hotel for anyone looking for a place to stay in Salerno.

So we basically booked this hotel last minute on the day as we were stranded in Salerno after the ferry got cancelled due to bad weather and storms on our way to capris.
There were no other hotels available and so we had to book this one. To be honest, hugely basic hotel, however did the job, the linen was clean, the bathroom was clean, it was warm. And there was a safe for our belongings. We couldn’t leave as rain was so bad but a lazy day in the room was what we had and it served the purpose.

Generally, the room was clean and it had functioning AC. These are the good aspects. However, issues are many. The 4 stars of the hotel are realistically 3.. The main issues are the low quality and reduced variety of the food, the coffee, the single-use placemats & plastic cups (in the breakfast lounge, rooms), the continuous on-and-off rooftop restaurant (you never know when it is opened - information the staff is struggling with, too), the lack of friendliness of the staff (reception, breakfast), the little English spoken by the staff at the reception, bar, breakfast, the bar is there, but opened only at night, broken shower support, traces of mold in the shower, towels with skid marks.. I want to believe they were trying, but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, which is a shame considering how close it is to the port and the central station of Salerno.

Hotel practical for groups and conferences. No soul, no charm. Rooms are simpleand clean and just to sleep, not inviting to stay more time, can even be a bit depresing.
Water fountains with water available on the 1st floor.
Reception was a one man show, clearly not enough to face a few check ins at the same time.
Break fast good and very pleasant staff.
Business area on the first floor.
On the expensive side for what it has to offer.

Excellent location. Fabulous hotel. It's located 10 minutes by foot from the Port and 12 minutes from the Train Station. The room was clean and very spacious, with a big balcony. From the balcony, there was a great view of the beach. Intercontinental buffet for breakfast. Helpful staff. I highly recommend staying at Grand Hotel Salerno to families, couples, or travellers solo. It's a great hotel for special events like weddings or business.
The only BUT I found is they need to improve more in the customer service at the reception! Picking the phone calls so the hotel doesn't lose clients!!! 9/10.

The hotel itself is a bit outdated and reflects from the outside the expectations for the rooms. Nothing wrong there, but not the most modern rooms and appliances. The room is very spacious and equipped with a mini fridge. I had a room with a “view” (actually blocked by tall apartment buildings) on the city (not on the sea), yet with a small balcony that was very enjoyable.
Unfortunately the restaurant was closed, but the bar and breakfast areas are excellent.
The staff is very friendly.
The hotel is located at walking distance (20 min) from the historical district/downtown Salerno. There are a few grocery stores in the vicinity (10-15 min walking distance).
Overall a very good experience.

“How far are you from train station and ferry?”
Answer from Marisa_reviewing
48 contributions19 helpful votes
I can't help you with the train station as I didn't use it. I can tell you though that there are two stations for the ferries. The one is only a 5-minute walk from the hotel and it is where the boats for Amalfi and Positano dock. The other is literally at the other side of the town, even further than the historical center. It is not a distance that I would feel comfortable walking if I had a boat to catch; though I did it as a walk one evening. From there you take the ferry for Capri. I think though that the taxi fare is around 5 euro for that distance; if that helps.
