Just returned from a wonderful week long holiday at Hotel Minerva. The hotel is lovely - the rooms were spotless and comfortable, the pool area was small but perfectly adequate with fantastic sea views, the restaurant has a lovely terrace area to sit out on and enjoy views of Vesuvius/the beautiful Sorrento coast and the food was amazing (varied 3 course sit down meal, thoroughly enjoyed every dish) and the staff were so lovely and hardworking - especially Nino who is the most attentive and excellent waiter! The location of the hotel is also fantastic as it is a short 5 min walk down the hill into town and about 20mins walk to the beach area (although there is not much of a beach, more of a pontoon space with sun beds you can rent for 8 euro each and bars and restaurants etc). We went as a family of four and were obviously a little bit worried about the current pandemic and did have the option to cancel the holiday however we decided we all still wanted to go and I’m so glad we did! We were very impressed with the Covid 19 precautions that the hotel had in place and felt perfectly safe at all times but also did not feel the precautions hindered our stay at all. We went with Tui as we felt it was best to do a packaged holiday during this time and did end up doing a number of the Tui day trips including Pompeii, a tour of the Amalfi coast (Positano, Ravello etc) and a boat trip to Capri which was fantastic (although the water was very choppy and I did get sea sick but we got some tablets in Capri and they worked perfectly for the boat ride back). The views on the boat were glorious and we had a lovely time stopping for a swim at each bay around Capri - really fantastic day!

Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

This hotel is just amazing. The location is perfect as its a 10 minute walk up from the center meaning you have incredible views looking over Sorrento and the sea. If your budget allows then go for a room with terrace and sea view - just magical!! The staff are so kind and friendly. The pool area is wonderful and gets so much sun throughout the whole day. Amazing restaurant and breakfast area with incredible views. Staff taking lots of covid precautions - masks always worn, lots of hand sanitizer throughout the hotel, buffet served by staff from behind plastic screen etc. Would recomend 100%!

Hotel Minerva is lovely. It’s set in a beautiful location just slightly up the hill from town, but very easily accessible to the town to walk to, but not if you have mobility issues. We splashed out on a room with balcony and views of Vesuvius, definitely worth it, but if it’s out of the budget there’s plenty of space to sit during the day/evening on the veranda. The room was slightly smaller than we were expecting but adequate. The bathroom and shower facilities were lovely. The bed was amazingly comfortable. We were in room 503 just up the flight of stairs from the piano floors/reception and opposite the lift. Unfortunately I am a very light sleeper so I was woken up on numerous occasions by the night time/early morning activity of the staff and late arrival of guests back to their rooms. If like me you are a light sleeper I would request a room further down the corridor. The bonus is that you can hear the piano and the singers in the evenings without even leaving your room!
My only two small criticisms of the hotel are there is a kettle in the room but we had to ask a few times for replenishment of teas/coffees as housekeeping never renewed it. Also there is a mini bar in your room but no glasses, again frustrating that we had to ask for glasses. We were booked for B&B only and the breakfast was lovely, an excellent selection of food where you just helped yourselves and you could order fried or scrambled eggs, unfortunately not poached though. Coffee was lovely. What we appreciated is that the head waiter knew if it was your first visit to the breakfast room and explained the procedure which was great. The waiting staff were very attentive but not in your face. We ate in the restaurant on two occasions, the food was lovely and the staff were amazing. We did a trip to Pompeii with TUI, our guide was excellent and very enthusiastic and knowledgeable, I would recommend. We did have a trip to Herraculeum planned but we cancelled as we thought it would be pretty much the same as Pompeii. We booked a trip to Amalfi and Positano instead which was well worth it.
As we had to check out before breakfast the hotel provided us with a breakfast to go which was much appreciated, we didn’t even have to ask for it was there for us on our check out.
Overall hotel Minerva is a lovely hotel in a great location and I would highly recommend, it is also an adult only hotel.

As soon as we stepped out of the lift towards reception we were taken away by the stunning view! This hotel is situated around a 15 minute walk from the centre of Sorrento, but we thoroughly enjoyed the walks into town - the pavement is a little narrow but nothing folk couldn’t handle.
Check in at the hotel reception was swift, very friendly gentleman and we had room 508, which was a large, beautifully decorated room with the most outstanding balcony!
We stayed half board at this hotel and are really happy we did. Nino is always present at both dinner and breakfast and all staff are incredibly friendly and helpful! The breakfast was delicious, option of eggs/bacon cooked fresh from the kitchen, as well as generous continental selection. Dinner was amazing, and we tried foods that we wouldn’t normally try so highly recommend half board. What I loved as well, is you can order a bottle of wine, and if you don’t fancy finishing it in one night, you can save it for the next night (they tag it with your room number).
We also informed reception it was our honeymoon and received the most gorgeous bottle of Prosecco in the room free of charge.
The hotel were excellent at booking day trips! We did a boat trip to Positano and Amalfi as well as a trip of Pompeii! We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel for all the trips as well.
Whilst we mainly explored Sorrento, we did spend 2/3 days at the pool located on the 8th floor. Plenty of sun loungers and a lovely lunch served as well.
All areas of the hotel are immaculately clean and the owner clearly takes pride in our hotel!
We got speaking to a few other couples who mentioned that it’s their 4th or 5th time here and we can clearly see why!
We will absolutely be returning to this hotel in the near future and have already recommended it to friends and family!
P.s: you will occasionally see fireworks shows during your time here and enjoy the front row seats from the drinks terrace! It was breathtaking!
Thank you Hotel Minerva!

My family stayed here for 3 nights back in May, enjoying the beautiful views, rooftop pool, and location away from the center of town, while still being able to easily walk down to it when we wanted. My stay was extended another 9 nights when I tested positive for Covid and the rest of my family went home without me. I can’t say enough about the treatment I received, between the room service and staff who checked in on me to be sure I had all that I needed. The only staff member I remember by name is Nello at the concierge desk, who was so very accommodating. The gentleman who I spoke with each day when I called down for room service also went above and beyond to be sure I had what I needed. I will always be grateful for the kindness shown to me during that very unique part of my stay there.

The positives of the Minerva are many as stated by many other reviewers. Primarily the staff who were fantastic in all areas but especially the reception ( who organised our boat tours to Capri and the Amalfi coast with no hassle), and the bar and the breakfast service. To give an example, on the evening we arrived the fan in our bathroom was not working. We reported it to reception the following morning and a new one had been fitted by the time we got back to our room that afternoon.
Secondly are the views from the public areas, especially the breakfast veranda which along with the staff made breakfast such a relaxing and pleasant experience. Then there’s the roof top swimming pool and I defy anyone to get tired of the vista across the bay to Vesuvius.
And then there is the rooms with a view, on the 5th to 7th floors. Ours was on the sixth floor and although it did not have a balcony it was very spacious with a lobby area with plenty of storage , a functional bathroom with good walk in shower and decent King sized bed with large window that opened out onto that view. The only gripe I had was that we like a cold room and the air conditioning was not available as it does not get activated until the end of May and we really could have done with it sooner. However I think this is an Italian thing rather than anything specific to the Minerva. Also we were given use of one of the courtyard rooms on the lower floors to change and shower on our last day before heading out to the airport, and personally I wouldn’t recommend staying in these. Yes they may be a lot cheaper but you are missing out on so much that the higher rooms with a view give you.
Except for the breakfast, which was your typical standard Italian cold buffet fare, but with eggs and bacon provided on request, we cannot comment on the restaurant as we were on a B&B rate and ate out every night as Sorrento is full of superb restaurants.
And that brings me to the possible small negative of the Minerva. To get those superb views you have to accept the elevated location a small distance out of town. Yes it’s only about a five minute down hill walk to the edge of town but probably more like 15 to 20 minutes to the restaurants of the Old Town and Marina Grande. That wasn’t a problem for us as we enjoy a pre and post dinner stroll, but may not be for everyone.
If you like seafood then you really should head for Marina Grande which is festooned with good seafood restaurants. The 20 minute walk is made considerably less if you don’t mind being a bit cheeky and taking a short cut through the campsite just a small distance down the hill and taking the staircase at the far north end of the campsite which deposits you on the lower marina road, cutting out a significant part of the walk. Otherwise look for the path down just beyond the Jolly Market shop a bit further down the hill for an alternative short cut.

We stayed at the Minerva Hotel at the end of the season and during the COVID pandemic. Despite this, we had an amazing stay. We were lucky enough to have a sea view room with a balcony and the views are breathtaking - overlooking Sorrento from a height, with the coastline visible all the way to Pompei and Naples. The hotel staff were so lovely and accommodating, going above and beyond to cater to all of our needs. The hotel is a little walk up the hill from the centre of the town, we loved this as it gave the best views and a nice excuse to walk off our pasta in the evenings (only a 5/10 min stroll from the main high street). We discovered the rooftop pool on the last day of our stay, which was clean and quiet overlooking the harbour. The buffet breakfast was simple but really good and we loved ordering eggs a la carte every day. We would really love to stay at the Minerva Hotel again, hopefully, next year!

We are just home from our second visit to the Minerva and have to say it was just amazing!!
The family feel when you arrive and the spectacular views are just the start. The rooms have English power point and USB sockets, a smart TV has been added and the decor is very traditional with a basket of books to choose from. The food is just fantastic with a huge selection for breakfast and a choice of starters and mains for dinner overseen by Nino and his team. Antoinetta and Nello on reception make sure everything runs like clockwork and Francesco at the pool has everything perfect! The cleaning staff do a great job and the gardeners have the plants looking lovely even at the end of the season!!
It is a short walk into town with everything you need available.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone!!

A great place to spend your holidays! The spacious balconies offer a wonderful view from both your room and the breakfast/restaurant place. The hotel staff is very kind and friendly. Two excellent excursions were arranged for us to the Amalfi coast and Pompeii. Visitors will never be left hungry or thirsty at this hotel. Very helpful restaurant staff, delicious food. Convenient location for exploring Sorrento. Highly recommended!

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Minerva. I don't usually leave reviews but felt I should acknowledge the excellent service we received here, as well as the beautiful surroundings we stayed in.

As others have stated, the hotel is beautifully decorated. Lovely and colourful, plenty of areas to rest and look out at the amazing views, inside looking out, or from the main terrace and rooftop. Our room was beautifully decorated, we had a balcony and the views were just stunning! The beds and pillows were comfortable, we had tea and coffee making facilities and the room was cleaned / towels replaced etc. every day.

I had done a little research prior to our stay and was a little concerned about the location of the hotel. It is on a busy road and you need to take care when crossing the road. The paths are narrow in some areas but we had no issues getting to and from the centre. The hotel is in an elevated position however the walk back to the hotel did not feel in anyway like we were walking an incline and again the views on the walk were beautiful.

Staff here are so friendly! I would in particular like to acknowledge the head waiter in the restaurant and the two waiters at the bar on an evening, all were so friendly, welcoming and helpful, they really made our stay that more special.

Another thing I enjoyed was the entertainment on an evening, listening to the sax and the Mandolin whilst sitting out on the terrace were experiences I'll never forget.

Thank you to all at Hotel Minerva, I hope to visit again one day.
