Hotel Gatto Bianco is a great choice when in Capri, offering an affordable, yet charming atmosphere, with luxurious rooms. While the hotel is older, the rooms and suites appear to have been thoroughly remodeled and are very comfortable. We stayed in a suite and had ample room. Spacious balcony with sub-par view. Bathroom was clean and modern, yet the rain shower head did not work in one of the rooms (we never brought this to the attention of management because there was a handheld as well).
Breakfast was good given it was complimentary. Large selection of pastries, eggs, meats, cheeses, and juices. The bar on site was never truly in use. They are not equipped to make cocktails, despite having all the liquor to do so. I recommend investing in a proper bartender and some pleasant background music to make it a more pleasant space.
The location of this hotel cannot be beat. In the heart of Capri town, Gatto Bianco provides convenience to all the best restaurants, bars and shops. It is only a few minutes from Gardens of Augustus and Via Krupp, and directly across from Hotel La Palma which has several incredible bars and outdoor spaces.
Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They will book your ferry tickets and have a porter ready for you upon arrival.
While not as luxurious as some other options on the island, the price and beauty of the hotel make it well worth while.

The Gatto Bianco is a comfortable hotel conveniently located only a minute's walk from the Capri Piazzetta and in the heart of the high-end shopping district. We stayed in a very comfortable second floor double room, with a balcony that had a view of the sea.
The hotel's breakfasts consisted of a large and varied self-service buffet, full of fresh local produce.
The staff were universally friendly and helpful. and made us feel welcome in their well-run establishment.
Before travelling from the UK we were concerned about how to navigate the complexities of the transfer from Naples Airport, via the high-speed ferry to Capri's Marina Grande, and from there up to the hotel. We need not have worried, as the hotel made all the arrangements after we had approached them for assistance. We found this service relieved us of many concerns so we could concentrate on enjoying the stay.
In summary, we had a great holiday and hope to return in future.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel. Although it is right in the centre of Capri you walk down a little ally to the entranceand it is a complete oasis of calm. The staff are friendly and the room we had was great. Spacious, clean and a large terrace. The location is perfect and to top it off the cat is the most adorable cat I have evert seen !!! I will definitely be back to stay at this hotel when I return to Capri!

The hotel is right in the middle of the small town, close to everything. It must have been lovely years ago. Today, the rooms and general facilities are run down and the front desk service is tired to say the least.
The first night we had a ground floor room: to be avoided at all cost because from 4 o'clock in the morning they start lugging luggage to those little electric carts and the noise is terrible.

I was looking forward to my stay at this hotel, as my previous experiences in other hotels in Italy were excellent. Coming from the luxury hospitality industry myself, I always remember what my leaders have always said: "guests will forgive a non-working room, an ok meal, but will not forgive bad service". The property itself is beautiful, in a great location, but my interaction with the staff during check-in ruined it for me. I arrived at the front desk to check in and was greeted by a young man who was nice; he called another man to check us in. As soon as the other employee came to the front desk, he looked at us with this puzzled face as if he was wondering what we were doing there. No hello, no welcome, no direction. He only asked for my cc and remained silent. As I signed receipts and handed over my passport to the young man, I noticed that this man was looking at my husband up and down. It was clear that we were not what he was expecting. (his thoughts were very clear). It was very disappointing and definitely affected the rest of our day, as this was the first time we ever felt this way throughout the course of our vacation in Italy.

It would be hard to imagine Capri without this charming and friendly hotel! The atmosphere is unique is like feeling at home in a luxurious and joyful environment. The service is outstanding all the team friendly and helpful. I don’t think that I would spend so many days in Capri if I could not stay at Il Gatto Bianco. Il love the place !!!!

We enjoyed our two-night stay at the Gatto Bianco very much. The hotel is perfectly located down a small corridor just off one a main street in Capri. Our room was quiet, spacious and spotlessly clean with a balcony with an ocean view. The front desk staff was welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and the servers very kind. We were happy to meet Miro, the real gatto bianco. Recommend highly. Thanks to all at the Gatto Bianco for a wonderful stay. We will return.

We LOVED Gatto Bianco Hotel and would absolutely stay again. So many great things to say:
The perfect location - right in the heart of Capri.
It was beautiful - the lobby, the breakfast garden area and our room was just lovely.
The complimentary breakfast had various choices and was excellent - especially the cappuccino.
Everything was sparkling clean.
The staff was absolutely wonderful, helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to put a dress I left behind on the ferry to Positano. THANK YOU!
I would HIGHLY recommend Gatto Bianco.

Charming, family run hotel literally in the heart of capri.
Gatto Bianco is an institution in Capri run by the same family generation after generation.
It has several atout. Location, location, location 100 meter from piazzetta and 50 meters from via camerelle. Another atout is the customer service. You feel at home welcomed by the timeless elegance and courtesy of the owners and of the whoke staff. They get out of their way to let you feel at home. Breakfast is also very pleasant in a garden / patio.

Stayed here for three nights and absolutely loved it. The check-in was a bit cold, but soon I got to experience the Italian warmth. Very friendly and helpful with anything I needed. Rooms are nice and clean (even though the bathroom is a bit small), breakfast offers a wide choice. The hotel is named after a white cat which can also be seen in the hotel wandering around a lot (you can pet it). Centrally located, easily reachable by taxi too. Will be back!

We took a taxi from the ferry port to the main square...20 euros. So, more expensive than taking the funicular, but less of a hassle with luggage, kids, etc. The taxi drivers will tell you exactly how to find the hotel… It was literally a 2-3 minute walk from where we were dropped off.And yes, you can send your luggage up with the porters, but I just wasn’t comfortable with letting my luggage out of my possession. I’m not sure if any of the hotels in the town of Capri have swimming pools. With that said, however, hotel Gato Bianco is located right in the heart of the town of Capri which made it very convenient to be out and about. The stairs leading up to the hotel lobby are not bad, and can be navigated with your luggage. Enjoy your holiday planning and have a wonderful time in Capri!
I don't think so but you could ask. We were there in April, too cold for swimming. But there is a spa!
For swimming, do go down to Marina Grande! Extremely surreal, especially with the view of the faraglioni, the famous rocks of Capri! There are cabanas and a cafe also.
Obviously, ask the hotel. But I would ask them specifically about access to the hotel itself. Once you're there there's a lift and there are rooms on the ground floor. However, you need to climb up some stairs to get to the hotel from street leveal and I don't remember there being a way around that.
