Simple entrance hides an interesting hotel placed in the historical Palazzo of San Gennaro Bishop. Need to go to second floor restaurant hall to see historical room. Simple but cosy rooms. Clean bathrooms. Many interesting attractions, restaurants and bars in close proximity.

I was in room 130- where the WiFi didn't work . Otherwise a delightful hotel in an excellent location. Staff are helpful and friendly. Great bar / restaurant called Salumeria in the same street - very reasonably priced , excellent atmosphere and food .

The hotel is located in the former residence of Archbishop Sisto Riario Sforza (1810-1877) where you will have breakfast in a beautiful Baroque-style hall with painted ceiling. The location, a run-down looking (graffiti, etc.) but safe street, is very convenient, at the epicenter of many areas of historical relevance. Rooms are very clean, with minor things non functioning in the...

My wife and I were in Naples for four days at the end of October 2016 for an academic meeting and chose this hotel for its closeness to the university where it was taking place. It was perfectly located and lived up to all our expectations. We had visited Naples before and in fact have visited Italy more than 30...

We had an AMAZING stay in Naples, very much thanks to the lovely hotel staff. Roberta and Elena were godsends, starting with one of them coming to our rescue us when we got lost driving through Naples. The hotel is simply beautiful - incredibly clean, smells welcoming and fresh. We loved eating in the breakfast room and hanging out in...

Decumani Hotel de Charme was a wonderful find. We stayed two nights and found it charming, comfortable and very conveniently located in the historical center of town. The breakfast was way more than we expected, with cheese, meats, breads, pastries, fruit and yogurt, all in a large delightful decorative reception hall. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly. We had...

We had an excellent stay at the Decumani Hotel de Charme. The hotel is centrally located with easy access to many of the city's historical and artistic attractions, which, by the way, are absolutely amazing. Friendly staff and good breakfast in a truly nice room, which, hopefully, will be restored to its original beauty. The general area where the hotel...

I'm an Italian tourist use to stay in this kind of hystorical hotels. Do not worry if the entrance hall is different from what you expected. It is small but decent. The hotel is spread over a noble ancient palace. The room we stayed in was clean, modern and well cared furnished. The temperature is controlled by the reception on...

This is the fifth time of staying in this delightful hotel in the historic centre of Naples. It is ideally situated for exploring this wonderful city. It has expanded over the past two years which could have lead to the loss of its personal and unique touch...however, that has not happened and the quality of service and individuality has remained...

It's a beautiful hotel in a very sketchy but colorful neighborhood in the university belt of Naples. We got in close to midnight and was greeted by the man at reception who barely spoke English it was so hard to converse we were trying to ask for tours that we could take. We only had two full days in Italy...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are glad to give you the warmest welcome as our guests into Palazzo Sisto Riario Sforza. Here, in the heart of Naples old town within inches of Santa Chiara Church with its Cloister, the Veiled Christ and Via San Gregorio Armeno was born, in 2008, our Hotel. The Decumani Hotel de Charme was originally built during the 17th century and belonged to Sisto Riario Sforza, the last Archbishop of Naples in the Bourbon Kingdom of the Two Sicilies of which Naples was the capital. In 2008 we embarked on a major refurbishment programme for the second floor, where the Hotel is placed. The hotel has now been fully restored and equipping with all the modern conveniences our guests expect. A wide lounge, decorated with golden stuccoes and mirrors, testifies the illustrious past of this residence. All of our 22 bedrooms are fully air-conditioned and feature the following: soundproof windows, flat screen Television with international channels, safe, minibar, direct dial telephone and hairdryer. The Decumani Hotel de Charme is located in the Decumani, in the heart of the old town originally a Greek "polis" and then a Roman "urbs", an area wich represents with its squares, streets and alleys, a unique historical, cultural and artistic heritage, as it is testified by the acknowledgment of Unesco, which in 1995 declared the historic centre of Naples " the biggest open-air museum in the world". ... more   less

I was very interested to read reviews of this Hotel as I'm literally AGONIZING about where to take my family of four 'adult' children to stay in Naples this christmas! I've never been to Naples before and so reading a lot of the reviews one would think one was heading to India or Africa rather than Europe! However this does not bother me at all but obviously I am concerned firstly about the safety of my daughters and also given that I will be spending a lot of money to stay in 3 rooms for 10 days I really need to make the right decision about what area we stay in. This hotel was on the top of my list due to its high ta ratings but I'm wondering whether esp in the winter when it gets dark earlier whether this is a nice area for us to stay in? I thought it would be a good idea to stay in the centro storico so that we could walk to all the main historical sights but maybe Naples isn't such a big place and/or transport is good so that it wouldn't matter if we stayed exactly in the center? I don't want my 'children' to be put off by fear for their own safety or by the rubbish everywhere!! They are pretty tough but it will be their christmas present essentially! I believe there is a 'sister' hotel nearer to Chiaia called the Chiaja de charme? I was wondering whether this would be a nicer hotel to choose given it is a 'better' area? But from my research it appears the rooms are rather smaller than the Decumanis'. Whether this matters or not I don't know. I would really appreciate your feedback as obviously I need to make a decision soon before everything gets booked up! Many thanks Carolyne
