We really liked this hotel. Amazing views of the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. The room was fantastic... Huge bed and very very quiet. We are very glad we stayed here - it was a good location from which to see vibrant Naples. One criticism of the hotel... Why on earth is there no proper bar. It is supposed to... More

Very nice hotel. People might say it is tired. It fits in with the traditional feel of the area. Restaurant was nice but a little pricey. Worth a 2 minute walk across to the harbour where the restaurants are fantastic and a lot more value. Good location with landmarks within walking distance

Nice big room overlooking the bay. Good bathroom with nice shower. Would give 5 stars but for, poor wifi, no tea or coffee making facilities in room and no free daily water. Everything else positive, nice rooftop restaurant and bar. Staff courteous and efficient. Would stay here again.

Great location, views and service. Rooms and bathrooms very spacious and clean. Just needs some updating to receive 5th star. The hotel is right on the harbor and walking distance to great shopping and Monuments. There are many restaurants to choose on the harbor that are very close to the hotel.

The Excelsior is a beautiful hotel right near the water. The interior is beautiful, the exterior is beautiful, and the rooftop restaurant/bar are beautiful. There are some key things though preventing this hotel from being top notch. First, do yourself a favor and just pay the extra to get an exterior ocean view room...we got a superior king interior room... More

Everything about the hotel was beautiful from a distance, but once you look up close, the illusion is broken and you can see how tired it is. The walls are cracking and the paint is chipping throughout the hotel. I assume that this hotel was spectacular in its heyday. A room with a view and a balcony is definitely worth... More

Beautiful hotel on Via Partenope in the Luongmare section of Napoli. Spacious rooms, very firm beds, large marble baths, privacy shutters, hardwood floors, turn down service nightly with fresh towels. Wifi was excellent in lobby and hallys, spotty in our room. On weekends Via Partenope is closed to traffic and thousands of young Italians take to the street to walk,... More

We had stayed at the Eurostars Berlin and loved its location, functionality, and overall common sense approach to providing very good accommodations at a reasonable price. The Excelsior in Naples clearly was a more deluxe facility which was taken over by Eurostars (a subsidiary of the Spanish chain Meliá) only one year before we visited. It was a bit pricey,... More

Photographs of Orson Welles, Sophia Loren, Clarke Gable, Alfred Hitchcock, other bygone dignitaries, some Sheikh, Carlo Ponti etc adorn the reception area. This was all 50 years ago! Our experience was really quite delightful & disssapointing & a little quaint. It's clear that in it's prime this was a special hotel, but no more. We have very mixed feelings; some... More
