B&B Dolce Vita. What a great place to stay when in Pompei! Finding it is super-easy—just turn left out of the train station, walk around the corner and there you are, right on the doorstep of your home sweet home, Italian style. Host Salvatore is attentive, genuinely hospitable, and as much a guide and mentor to visitors as he is hotelier.

We spent three nights at B&B Dolce Vita in March 2014 and can sincerely recommend it to any traveler looking for clean, comfortable, convenient, and reasonably-priced accommodations while visiting Pompei. The rooms are generously sized, the beds are first rate, and the location ultra-convenient to the station, restaurants, the Marian shrine, and the ruins. The balcony is fun and any worries about noise are unfounded; the street below us became quiet as a church around 10:00 every night. There is no need to look elsewhere; B&B Dolce Vita is the perfect accommodation while in Pompei.

We stayed there in late Sept.'14. Adequate and comfortable room. The location is excellent, BUT Salvatore is the 5th star in my rating. He's just a nice guy. He genuinely seems to enjoy being helpful, friendly, informative, and funny! Dolce Vita is close to everything as has been stated in other reviews. Breakfast is very good and Salvatore's cappucino is EXCELLENT. Breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace, by the way. Thank you, Salvatore for making my wife's, my step daughter's, and my stay in Pompeii so nice.

I stayed here a while ago but neglected to write a review. Service, cleanliness were top notch. Breakfast in the morning on the roof top was pretty good. I would for sure stay here again. The location was basically beside the ruins and within walking distance of other attractions- a short drive to Positano as well !

Just 50 meters from the train station, across the street from a great grocery, short blocks from terrific local restaurants and shopping, and a lovely short walk through the town piazza takes you to the back door of ancient Pompei. The rooms were decorated in local themes, we had the lovely Pompei room with copies of frescoes on the walls and a charming balcony. Our fellow traveler had the Capri room in soft blues and mediterranean artwork. We were there in Dec. so missed out on a terrace breakfast, but our gracious host, Salvatore, served us our selected menu in our rooms each morning. He was incredibly helpful pointing out restaurants, nearby sites, and travel directions. We recommend this hotel to couples and families. Our room had bunk beds besides a comfortable queen. Be sure to stay over in New Pompei so that you have lots of time to explore the ancient city.

I am not the first to comment on the welcome given to us by Salvatore. We were given the intial brief on arrival (which was in truth not the best time as we had been travelling since 0400!) We were given great little tips and advice throughout our 6 day stay, and with the help of sign language and Google Translate we managed to have some nice chats!.
The BandB is located about 50m from Pompei sanctuary station on the Circumvesuviana. Not a plush rail network by any measure but functional. Over the street from the BB is a very good local shop, which has a range of fresh food and the staple UK type foods for picky 8 year olds! The staff there were very good but got stumped when I asked for fruit squash (you will need to buy juice or ice tea, they don't do Robinsons!).
Inside the B+B are 3 rooms and we stayed in the Pompei room (kids in bunks and the double shown on the website). The room was clean and comfortable. Having a kitchenette was a real bonus for us because of our little picky child - having paid 15 euro for a plate of white pasta and some chicken we decided to cook ourselves. The shop over the street was great for all we needed to make pizza and pasta meals, salad and fruit. The kitchenette is equipped with a hob, small oven and a fridge. Other than that we had brakfast in the room or on the roof terrace, built a pack up from the little shop each day.
We stayed for 6 days and explored most of the usual sights. We found the ruins excellent and it was helpful that the kids entered for free to all the sites. We travelled by Circumvesiviana train which was generally easy and frequent. About 5 minutes after getting on the Alibus from the airport I was glad not to have hired a car...it is a utterly crazy idea to rent a car in Naples, and if you do always make sure you have not got a massive excess!!
Disappointing aspects of the trip were The Archeological Museum in Naples. Many of the galleries were closed or missed exhibits (because they have been shipped to London for the exhibit there). We found Sorrento a bit dull, mainly because we are not really shoppers. The trip up Vesuvius was going to cost us 110 euro so we decided to go to the cable car in Stabia only to find this was closed. We did go up the tower at the church (more a cathedral really) in Pompeii and that gave a fantastic panorama of the entire Bay of Naples. This cost us 9 euro so mr tight wad was happy!!
Overall I think this was a really worthwhile trip, one I have wanted to go on since I was 11(long ago!) On reflection I would have done 3 days rather than 6 because the kids got a bit bored with 'old stones'. There is not that much to entertain the iPOD generation.
If I return to Pompei again it will certainly be to Dolcevita, I don't think I will even look at anywhere else!

A group of 4 of us stayed at the Dolcevita for two nights in October. My partner and I stayed in the Pompei room and our friends in the Capri room. Both rooms were very clean with comfortable beds and nice soft pillows, but only the Pompei room had a balcony looking over the street, though this was not a problem. There is also the use of a kitchen, which was great as we drink a lot of tea. Salvatore the owner, (i presume), was so nice and helpful, he gave us some good tips on where to eat, best ice cream and pizza, he also explained the layout of Pompeii new town and ruins and gave us all the info needed about transport. His English is not very good but far better than my Italian and he is so patient and really tries hard, what a lovely man. The location of the Dolcevita is perfect, just a few minutes from the ruins and some good places to eat and the best pizza place is a two minute walk around the corner, the name of it is Pizza Margherita and they were the best pizza's we had in Italy. I have stayed in lots of really nice hotels over the years but this little b & b was without a doubt as good if not better. If I ever go back to Pompei theres only one place I would want to stay and thats the Dolcevita. Thank you Salvatore.

This small (4 rooms) B&B is right in the centre of Pompei, literally 2 mins walk to the main square. It is a a through road so can be noisy during the busy summer months but that's the pay off for being in the centre of everything. Salvatore (the owner) was a great help from the second we arrived until we left, giving helpful advice on where to go and when/how to book, restaurants to eat at, everything! There is a shop across the road and great restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk. Breakfast is served either in your room or on the roof terrace (where we ate it) and is fresh coffee, freshly squeezed juice, bread, spreads and pastries, yum!
An added bonus was picking our hire car up from across the road to continue our holiday down the Amalfi coast.

My partner and I found Salvatore to be so friendly and helpful and he went out of his way to do so. On arrival we received beautiful fresh fruit which was so refreshing after walking in the sun with our luggage. He was very hospitable and basically told us to use the kitchen area like we would at home. He was so helpful with recommendations for food and places to see. Thank you Salvatore for making us feel at home we will definitely come and stay again in the future
