My husband and I stayed at this beautiful hotel. We had a gorgeous view of the water from our room, delicious breakfast daily offering a variety of foods, and delicious coffee in the morning. We were able to walk to many locations in town and to Serapo beach. The hotel staff was very helpful and accommodating. We would certainly stay here again!

for us… OK, let me clarify, in reality is a nice hotel, great located facing gulf (there is the US Navy co-administrated with local), easy to move around and with own carpark available for guests.

Mid size hotel with ancient pieces in public areas, very clean, nice breakfast areas (indoors and terrace), breakfast choices are quite good (salty and sweet). Gym with gulf views is available if want to do some workout. There was a shuttle service to Serapo beach, really good. We had a nice room, was spacious for all of us, there was a kitchenette (which we didn’t use) the bathroom we found it a bit small but anyhow it was fine. The huge terrace was great to enjoy and to relax in the late night.

As per my title, it could be more inviting for us to extend our stay if is not because of the rates; it was a way too much (was expecting a private jacuzzi or butler in the room, just sayin’!) for what we got (nice was the terrace but lots of space which could have a better use) or we just drop in in the wrong days...

I have to say that the staff are super friendly. The hotel is rated a 3 star and for me that’s all it was nothing more.

Pros — the staff.
Great location.
Nice view.
Pet friendly
Towels were good

Cons — room was super hot all weekend (no fan available). They did drop the temp 2• for us which helped a little.

There was mold on the ceiling of the shower.

The wall was dirty.

For me, it was definitely not worth the price (€200+/night). We really had high hopes, but it fell a little far for us.

The parking was free so that was a huge plus and took some of the sting out of the price for sure.

Have travelled to lots of places in Italy and this Hotel was fantastic - we were given a perfect room for a perfect location. On the tail end of our journey and this was a real treat to come across - good breakfast, close to restaurants and a 10 minute walk to
the beach - staff were lovely, always pleasant and helpful. Would highly recommend.

We have stayed here multiple times, and recently spent the first 5 nights of our honeymoon here. The hotel is perfectly located between "old" and "new" Gaeta, and directly across from the Navy pier. Serapo beach is a 10 minute walk. Highly recommend a room with a walk out balcony (third floor). The view is incredible. Everyone here is helpful (and speak enough English to communicate well), the rooms are clean, and the price is reasonable.

Nice hotel, clean, wellkept and nice all over, almost 4 stars.
We had room number 32, with extra space and private terrace.
We do not give top rating (5) as our terrace lacked parasol and plants.
Very good breakfast and very friendly staff.
Fantastic panoramic terrace on the 3rd floor with sea views, well furnished and covered, nice place to relax.
A good hotel choice in Gaeta nearby the two old parts of town and the beach.
Bus stop right outside the door.
MUST SEE: street call "Dell'indipendenza"

We stayed a weekend in Gaeta on our way to Naples, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. We were supposed to stay only one night but it was so nice, that we stayed another. Our hotel room had a breathtaking view over the Gulf and the mountains behind Formia, we could even see Capri in the distance. The hotel is at the entrance of the historical part of town and 5 mins. from the beautiful Serapo beach. We rented bikes from the hotel and went exploring the city and the Mount Orlando with its Santuary. We had wonderful meals in the center and at the hotel's restaurant "Il Saracino" where we enjoyed our wine on the beautiful terrace. A great stay, very romantic.

Not many American tourists visit Gaeta, which is a pity because it is a wonderful beach town centrally located on the coast between Naples and Rome. That's not to say that there aren't a lot of toursits there, many come from Italy or other parts of Europe. An excellent place to stay if exploring this gem of a city, it the Hotel Gajeta. It's location is closer to the city's old historic district, but it is only a couple of blocks further from the city's beaches. The Gajeta offers rooms that are mini-appartments, with small kitchen facilities. The hotel and the rooms are all very clean and well kept. While not exactly charming, the rooms have atmosphere and character that is very appealing and welcoming. It is also one of the few hotels in Italy in its price range that I have stayed at where the air conditioning actually works.

My daughter and I ended a 10 day trip to the Amalfi Coast with two nights in Gaeta. The two nights included being in Gaeta over New Years Eve. This sleepy little town comes alive and really knows how to celebrate the New Year with local music and lots of fireworks. The whole town turns out for the festiva. The hotel was very accomodating and enjoyable. I would like to go back in the summer to enjoy the beautiful beaches in the area. We were not aware that Italy had such beautiful beaches with light sandy beaches rather than the lava rock, darker beaches. Our hotel room was large and nice but the shower was tiny. The hotel staff was very helpful and made the trip a pleasure.

There is a small glass elevator you can take from the sidewalk or a staircase if about 20 stairs. Also it's about 1.5 mile walk to the beach... but only .5 mile to downtown area .... go 1/4 mile the other way at sundown for the park and carnival ride area. The breakfast in the terrace will be nice with the kids bc you can enjoy the terrace and easily watch the kids as they eat and run around.

How far is the nearest beach, and can you swim there? Is it a sandy or pebbles beach?
Answer from dsir
chicago, illinois104 contributions53 helpful votes
The Serrapo beach in Gaeta is the most perfect beach. There are areas where you can rent a chaise lounge and umbrella .... just sit on one and the beach boy will gone get your money ... I don't know how much bc we didn't do this . We went in the areas where you can just lay on the clean beautiful sand.... close to the freshest water u will ever swim in. The beach is perfect. There are caves you can swim to as well! If U drive north on the bus Flaca toward Sperlonga there are s number of beaches worth visiting as well.... these are full service beaches u get a chaise lounge and umbrella for 5 euro .... we did one of these .... it was also excellent. And we also visited the public beach at Sperlinga and walked their downtown area ..... so much to see and do !!!
