Donna Camilla Savelli feels like I have a home in Rome. I’ve been to Rome 5 times and I’ve stayed here every year for the last three years since I first discovered it & will never stay anywhere else. One year my son joined me. The cost is so reasonable for such a luxurious hotel especially since it includes a breakfast buffet. You can have a delicious healthy and satisfying meal before daily adventures. It’s in the best location, walking distance from everything yet in peaceful part of Trastevere. It’s allowed me to travel to Rome by myself and last year I treated my son. I can travel by myself too because I felt safe in the location and able to walk everywhere. It’s so beautiful and you are immediately transformed the minute you enter the driveway and see the beautiful former Convent. The inside is just as beautiful with stairways and marble floors. The rooms are spacious, clean and fresh smelling - they look out in the Courtyard that is sprinkled with white lights and beautiful music. In the summer I would open my windows to hear the music and Church chimes. I went in December this year to see Rome at Christmastime, and even some rainy days couldn’t ‘dampen’ my stay or spirits – the hotel is that beautiful. I would have a glass of red wine and a snack tray in the hotel to unwind at end of some days. There’s also delicious lunch, dinner and snacks available from the restaurant. Everyone who works at the hotel is very friendly and helpful. Marina R. greeted me my first day and remembered my son too. She made me feel very welcome, comfortable and happy every day. Maria was so kind and sympathetic to my self care and wellness after I shared some family struggles this year. I really appreciated it because as a Mom it was first trip just for me. Mattia always greeted me with a big smile and hello when I came back to hotel. Lourdes is so interesting because she is Peruvian like my neighbor at home and he’s trying to learn English so I was asking her questions, Eduardo is so sweet and friendly, Fabiana was always so kind and helpful, even taking pictures of me by Christmas Tree (I was traveling alone so it was nice to have pictures for my family), Marina Z and Mariel were great too. Housekeeping always did a fantastic job and when I came back to my room it always felt like the 1st day. Donna Camilla Savelli is the most beautiful, warmest and happiest places.

The most beautiful hotel i have ever stayed in, with the most beautiful, friendly and helpful staff. Absolutely stunning inside and out with its own stunning chapel & the rooftop terrace had the most amazing views. The rooms beautifully made up and cleaned everyday, so comfortable and air conditioned, we always had a perfect nights sleep, the whole hotel was spotless . I have never seen a breakfast bar so gorgeously laid out with everything you could ask for and more, absolutely spoilt for choice and was always greeted in the morning with a smile by all the friendly staff who were all exceptional. The biggest thankyou to Anna Marie and Maryna who would look after us every breakfast time always eager to help, and made it very personal by even remembering our English breakfast tea. The Reception staff too were so lovely, helpful and friendly anything we needed they would help was always a pleasure to see them and so very welcoming. I have only praise for the Donna Camilla Savelli , it was the perfect stay and ive totally fallen in love with Rome. Me and my daughter will definitely be back for a return stay. Thankyou to each and every staff member for the most wonderful stay.

The location is great, about a 30 min walk to all the major attractions. The hotel is a converted monastery and is beautiful inside. The roof top terrace is the jewel in the crown.
The only criticisms are that there were a lot of cheeky and greedy pigeons in the courtyard where you can have your meals. Step away from your table and your meal will disappear quickly!
The bar prices are pretty steep, about £14 for an average single measure drink.
The rooms at the rear of the hotel suffer from road / vehicle noise.
We had asked for a courtyard facing room when we booked our stay and I emailed the hotel directly backing up this request. We were given a room at the back of the hotel, albeit a huge room, but it was quite disappointing.

Dear Craig, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed our beautiful location and the unique charm of our converted monastery, especially the rooftop terrace. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the pigeons in the courtyard. We are actively working on this issue in a very humane and respectful way, as they are a protected species, and we are following the law to manage their presence. Regarding the room allocation, we always strive to honor our guests' requests and pay close attention to each one. We note that you reserved a room that does not include a garden view, as only our Deluxe and Suite categories offer this feature. We hope you were still able to enjoy the spacious room provided. Thank you for choosing Donna Camilla Savelli. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide an even better stay next time!

This is a beautiful hotel tucked away in an alcove off of Garibaldi Street in Rome. The staff are lovely people who speaks English very well and go over and above to help out. Our room was large and had a small balcony overlooking the garden. Absolutely beautiful with simple furnishings and a large TV screen on the wall. Despite a description we read, the rooms are air conditioned and very comfortable. Everything was clean. The Continental Breakfast, included with room, is a large spread of European fruits, pastries, toast, yogurts with American Bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs. We travel a lot and I would rate this hotel as one of the best 4 star hotels we have stayed in at a reasonable price for Rome.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. It’s in a quiet corner of Trastevere, but just 5 minutes walk away from everything that the area has to offer. From the moment we arrived, to our final day, the service was top class: professional, warm & courteous. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone seemed genuinely glad to help. The building is a converted monastery built in the 17th century and the hotel retains a calm, restful ambience. The interior still has many echoes of its history, such as the beautifully preserved chapel, and the graceful cloisters in which breakfast is now served. Our room (309) had a huge, comfortable bed, a shower room with large towels and two bath robes, and our shuttered windows had views over the rooftops of the area to the distant hills. The third floor also has steps up to a roof terrace for more fabulous views. There is an elegant garden to relax in after a day’s sightseeing. Breakfast offers a good range of options; the fresh fruit salad was good - but make sure you also try a maritozzi bun! If you’re looking for a hotel with comfort, class and character, this one is a very good choice. I’d love to stay again!

Impeccable experience at Donna Camilla Savelli

Our stay at Donna Camilla Savelli was simply extraordinary. From the first moment, we were fascinated by the beautiful location, a historic jewel in the heart of Rome, able to offer an atmosphere of elegance, charm and tranquility.

The excellence of the service, the courtesy and professionalism of all the staff made every moment perfect, with an attention to detail that exceeded all expectations. The superior food added an extra touch of sophistication to the experience, making it unforgettable.

Special thanks go to the events office, especially Silvia, Cristina and Benedetta, for their extraordinary professionalism, attention to every detail from the beginning and precious support throughout their stay.

The whole international team was delighted by the impeccable organization, the unique location and the quality and courtesy of all the hotel staff. An unforgettable experience that we highly recommend to anyone seeking excellence in every aspect.

I was there in December 2023, before Christmas, as a guest of a Congress. Hotel of great charm, magical atmosphere, with Christmas lights and the adjoining chapel (Church of Santa Maria dei Sette Dolori. by Borromini, still consecrated), where a classical music concert was held. A sense of great quiet, peace and serenity.
The rooms are created in the old nuns' cells, and are very quiet. Mine looked onto the internal garden, very well kept, with the Christmas lights that gave it a magical atmosphere. The Borromini room is splendid, which is the ancient refectory of the convent. The place is at the foot of the Janiculum, immediately above Piazza Trilussa in the heart of Trasterere, away from traffic, disorder and crowds, but at the same time close to points of interest (for example Campo dei Fiori, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, which I reached in feet). Close to the historic center, and close to the taverns of Trastevere.
Everything's fine.
A few notes. The building is structurally old, my bathroom lacked light and ventilation. The support handles on the tub were missing. The walls of the room needed some refreshing. The oat velvet puff has one of the buttons detached. Small detail, but it makes you think and deserves more attention. Despite this, the overall picture is very positive, so I give it a rating of 5/5, let alone that it can potentially be improved. I recommend it, a nice surprise and if I can I will return with the family.

The hotel was beautiful and in an area with a great vibe where the locals hung out. Had the best Italian food on our visit just a short 3 minute walk from the hotel. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The top floor terrace had a wonderful view of the city. The room was large, with a comfortable bed and linens. Towel warmer in the bathroom. All around great stay. Our only complaint was location as our room was overlooking the back alley of the hotel (not much of a view). I would recommend a room location with a courtyard view, or possibly city view if available on a upper floor.

My experience at the hotel was nothing short of excellent. I worked at the hotel for a private conference held in the same building and unfortunately did not stay. As far as I'm concerned, I had a great time with anything. Starting from the toilets kept in perfect condition, passing through all the spaces always clean and then ending with the friendliness of the hotel employees. About the quality of the food there is little to say. Everything was always fresh and well prepared. Any kind of vegetables, fruits or cold cuts were always fresh while the hot dishes were always excellent and tasteful. My greatest recognition goes to the staff that welcomes those who live or work with great availability and education. I send my thanks to the hotel employees who worked near the buffet as they all treated me with great respect and cordiality. Too bad for not being able to enjoy their rooms but otherwise everything perfect, nothing to say without any exaggeration made.

Donna Camilla Savelli is a wonderful hotel in Rome’s Trastevere. An immaculately restored / maintained renaissance convent - the site still has three lovely nuns living on-premise and a functioning church at the entrance, where my wife and I had the opportunity to attend mass.

The rooms and grounds are well-maintained. The staff is kind and helpful. The hotel has a quaint charm and feels secluded from the touristic hustle of much of Rome. A welcome retreat on a fun vacation. Would recommend 100%.

In my opinion, you do not want to drive a car in Rome. Walking is preferred. Public transportation is a very good option. The folks at Donna Camilla will gladly call a taxi for you. On our most recent visit, we walked to the Pantheon, several churches that featured Caravaggio paintings, the Jewish Ghetto and it was all very doable for us. On a previous trip we used public transit much more and went to all the destinations you mentioned. Getting to the airport on our last day was interesting. Taxi drivers were on strike, but the great folks at Donna Camilla secured a driver for us. Enjoy your trip to Roma.
