Blue Hostel lived up to its reviews. Great staff, really helpful with some wonderful recommendations. Room was clean and lovely. Coffee machine was an added bonus. No English tv channels though - not that we needed them. Great value for money.

This little boutique hostel/hotel offers a charming spot in the middle of Rome. We stayed for 5 days and had a wonderful time. The owner has had the rooms thoughtfully refurbished with a vintage-touch, although the shower lack a mobile shower head :D The manager Andrea was very friendly and was always keen on helping out with everything and anything...

He then proceeded to give us a map and explain all of the main attractions, including some great restaurants and coffee shops. Right away we...

I have stayed twice at this excellent small hotel in Rome in recent weeks and each time found it to be a really ideal base. Ercole and Andrea are terrific and helped me with local recommendations. They went out of their way to help with booking an early morning car service to the airport - the driver was really great...

We stayed here for 3 nights and found the Blue hostel to be a great place too be based for the trip. It is easy to find from the main station (2 mins walk) and is ideally located to walk to all of the main attractions. The only time we took the metro system was to get to the Vatican...

This place was brilliant! Quirky location in an ex convent building. Fully renovated and modern furniture, modern bathroom, comfy bed. Nespresso machine and daily coffee capsule top up. Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
