Sadly "Maria-Rosa Guesthouse" had closed at the end of Mars 2017. It was a really nice place. Rome will be different for me now... Followers received an email from the owner (Sylvie)... Wish you all the best for your new adventure!

Maria-Rosa is ideally situated in Rome's artisan heartland, Trastevere. Good bars and restaurants abound, and you're within walking distance of many major sights. But the highlight of any stay is the infinitely helpful host, Sylvie. This is Rome without any tourist frenzy in a delightful, clean relaxed atmosphere. Recommended.

Sylvie was very friendly and helpfull. She gave us a lot of suggestions for visiting places in the neigbourhood, like highlights and restaurants. Also some information about the great masters MichelAngelo, Raphael, DaVinci, Bernini and Caravaggio. We received as a present some postcards made of her photo's.

Maria-Rose Guesthouse outshined all our previous stays in Italy. Located in Trastevere it was a walking distance to the centrum, situated in a peaceful area so the city-noise doesn't reach the bedroom. The room and shared bathroom were very clean and cosy. What made the stay memorable however, was the hospitality and kindness of the hostess. Her warm welcome, sight-seeing...

The room is in a great location in Trastevere within walking distance to historic Rome as well as neighborhood shops and restaurants. We were given tips on restaurants, etc. to visit and the ones we tried were excellent. The price was reasonable for what you get. The downside: the room felt worn and the bathroom is dated. The apartment had a...

With my girlfriend we wanted to find a nice room in a cosy area of Rome. We stayed there three days and we were received by a friend of Sylvie (because she was away during our visit). First, we felt really welcomed by Emiliano, he always did his best to make us feel confortable or to help us about the...

Loved everything about it. It felt like a real stay in Rome, close to all the sights and in a gorgeous neighbourhood. The room was large, comfortable and had everything I needed. Be sure to watch the sunset on the roof!

We had a wonderful time in Rome thanks to the good folks at Maria-Rosa Guesthouse. They were very easy to communicate with, organized, and incredibly hospitable. Upon arrival they gave us a "Rome Crash Course" and helped us organize our day there. They suggested the best restaurants, attractions, and travel options. The location was also fantastic, we could walk to...

My friend and I visited Rome in May and had a wonderful stay at Maria-Rosa Guesthouse. The hosts are so lovely and provided a great overview of Rome complete with a map, guide to the Vatican Museums, and some handy tips to maximize our time in Rome. Accommodations were very comfortable and location was excellent. We're hoping to travel to...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
