The room in an all female dorm was okay, great location easy access to the metro and walking distance to the colosseum. The rooms were maintained and kept well but bathroom could use an upgrade. Breakfast buffet was also very good. For the price, it is really good.

Not the best but not the worst I've stayed in. It's quite and the rooms are super cosy so if you don't mind walking over the top of people stuff all the time it's okay. There's no real common room just a small kitchen area and the free pasta nights they offer Tuesday's and Thursday didn't happen :-(

I booked a private room which was located separate from the main office(not an issue). The hostel is located in an area within walking distance to the colosseum and a couple of other attractions. When we first arrived in the apartment we were staying in, we easily thought it was going to be the best hostel we booked. We have...

Not too bad, not too good. I stayed here for two or three nights, and even though I didn't have any problems (staff is nice , rooms are ok) I thought I wouldn't stay more than that The location is really good though, so if you're gonna be out all day you might not even care about the fact that...

4 friends and I stayed in the dorm room option and we absolutely loved this hostel. Less than a 15 minute walk from the bus/train station and also within walking distance of all the major sites in Rome. Reception was very accommodating of us paying separately even though we originally booked together and gave us great tips. A supermarket is...

I stayed here with my boyfriend for 3 days in July. Even though it was ridiculously hot (40°C) there was a fan and AC. The room was not in the main building. We had a cozy little roof top terrace. An en suite room. Close by to shops and the city centre. Staff were pleasant. Only downfall is the neighbourhood...

I stayed at this hostel a few months ago, in a private room located in a separate building. The room was underground and it was very damp, not very clean and quite old, there was quite a bad smell of old and mouldy things. Breakfast was very very poor and a bit depressing. It was do-it-yourself style but just with...

The hostel is close to the central bus/rail station. It's a place to stay in for transit, which means one or two nights. I think it might not be nice staying in that place for longer. It's too small and the people are not that much friendly. Anyway, Rome is the worse city for accommodation that I've been in all...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
