BBQueen is an absolute gem of a place in Rome. My husband and I spent 3 nights there, and thought it was great value for money. Clean rooms and bathrooms with all the conveniences of a bigger hotel (a/c, wi-fi, room cleaning, a mini-fridge in every room), very convenient location (just a 5 minute walk from the station with a...

BBQueen is a very nice B&B close to Termini station and off the Via Marsala main street. Via Montebello is a vibrant neighborhood, with a cool street market on Fridays. Julia is absolutely fabulous, and my wife and I strongly second all the great reviews that we've read. She is extremely meticulous about guest experiences, and was very responsive and...

- Best part of this place is Julia: We took an overnight flight from NYC and Julia arrived early to get our room ready. We only expected to drop off our bags and head out to sight see but Julia went above and beyond! We appreciated the ability to take a quick shower in our room. - Very clean. -...

We stayed here the night we arrived in Rome from the US and we chose it because we were leaving the next morning by train for Venice. We could not have been more pleased. Julia had responded to my emails quickly and answered all my questions. The place is small (3 or 4 bedrooms) but everything necessary is there. Our...

This is a small b&b very convenient to Termini train station but still in a safe neighborhood. Julia, the owner, was very helpful when asked for any information and when securing a driver to Fumicino airport. The bedrooms are a decent size for Rome and face away from the street so are quite quiet at night. The bathroom, although small,...

I agree with all the previous reviews. The BBQueen is comfortable, quiet and clean. There are only 3 rooms - that are modern (even though building is old) and clean, with high ceilings that give the sense of space. Breakfast is continental and served between 8:30 and 9:30 each morning. Julia is a gem. She is very good at providing...

We stayed at the BBQueen our first night in Rome because we knew we would be tired from several long flights and were leaving for Sorrento by train first thing the following morning. Due to many flight delays, we arrived late but Julia waited for us and made certain we were comfortable and had all we needed. Following breakfast the...

Great clean, quiet B&B. Is very close to the train station so a great pace to stay if you are there for a few days in between in cities. There is a market on the street every day so don't be alarmed if arriving before 2. Great service and breakfast from the owner.

We stayed here for 5 nights while in Rome. Location is near the Termini train station. Walkable to the subway lines. A hefty walk, subway ride or cab ride to tourist destinations. Julia arranged for private transportation for us from the airport. That worked smoothyl. Upon arrival, Julia met us at the B&B with coffee and juice. She provided a...

Your review: We have stayed in "nicer" areas of Rome that were more convenient to sightseeing. We have also had better breakfasts at other establishments in Rome. However, for this visit we were arriving by train from the port and leaving the next morning by train to the airport and couldn't see paying the much higher prices for the places...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
