We booked this hostel last minute and when we arrived there was no one there! The name on the doorbell had been covered with black tape and we wandered the streets looking for another hostel until we happened upon the hostel worker and he let us in. We were so tired and went straight to bed. The bed had half...

I booked the Basic - Single room and it was just as the name states. The shower door ran off its hinges and so water leaked in the bathroom. The bathroom smelt of old stale water if that makes sense. The shower was a flexible spray hose which was leaking and so had no pressure for the detachable shower head....

Rome isnt well connected with the metro.. Staying close to the termini station which has two metro lines going to the main sights was essential... This hostel was just a walking distance less than a minute from the station. Even if you look at the poverty surrounding this district, do not come in expecting one of those hostels you will...

If you have made a reservation cancel it - I don't know how this place can stay open - by a mile the worst place I have stayed in. I stayed here half way through a 2 month trip around Europe. The beds were too small and felt like they would snap any second. The bathroom is disgusting, I couldn't...

That was pretty close to Termini station , the owner was very helpful because I have made the reservation some hours before and he managed to give me a room. I do not know if I found it expensive because Rome is expensive, but it was really expensive for me , and it did not have breakfast (if i had...

We went to this hostel because of its price, as we were a big group and it had big rooms. Rooms were not bad, WiFi worked, but only two toilets and showers for up to 18 people make it a bit cramped. It lacks anything ressembling a kitchen and common space, and there is no safe available. Best thing: it's...

We have chosen this hostel because in the photos it looks quite nice for price. I still think that we can find better even if you pay cheap. It was dirty and the room was so dark. The good point is that we didn't stay a lot of time inside the room, so we could enjoy our holiday outside. The...

Great location - 1 min walk from the train station. The hosts were more than helpful, telling me the best options for transport around Rome and places to visit. I could drop my suitcase before 12, as the room had been vacated but not cleaned. Facilities for tea - just take the kettle in the room and when finish put...

We stayed for one night at the beginning of our six week trip. We expected it to be basic what we didn't relalise that it would be very basic. The six bed dorm we stayed in was very small with little room, no room to store our bags only a very small locker was available (at a further cost) further...

I stayed here for 4 nights in September 2013, and it was not the best accommodation. I was in a 6 mixed room (although only girls stayed), where the room was very dirty and it looked out onto a very noisy street. The bathroom facilities were terrible - smelly showers and toilets, which were right next to the "reception" area...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
