This small hotel offers the basics. It is not located near the tourist sites, although we enjoyed walking downtown once or twice. I had business nearby so the hotel was a good choice.. The hotel is right across the street from a fantastic, neglected and hidden park, Villa Sciarra, which is well worth visiting. It is also close to other...

This place was recommended by the organizer of my business meeting so I took it in consideration. While not located near touristic landmarks, the neighborhood has many things to see, places to eat, it is near the station and has nice spots to take a look at the city. Pice was fair considering the rates in Rome and I had...

Near buses to city centre and Vatican. Stayed 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Extremely clean and calm atmosphere, comfortable simple bedrooms with excellent continental breakfast and first class coffee. Quiet and safe area of Rome and did not find the hotel or the area noisy. Very helpful reception staff. Yes there are religious pictures and a beautiful chapel...

I will remember this for the hard and short beds. My feets were hanging out at the end of the bed and I can't remember the last time I had the feeling of sleeping on the floor. I had a room on the first floor with a window out on the street and could hear people talk as the past...

Perfect place to stay in busy Rome. Spacious, spotless, comfortable rooms with excellent service and great staff. Free wi-fi. One short block to bus lines, open market, shops and a few restaurants, but in a calm & safe neighborhood. Great breakfasts that kept us going all day. Can't wait to go back!

The place is very clean, everything works, fast and free WiFi and very friendly and helpful personel. I had a room with a little balcony and a view over parts of rome and down to a nice park. The furniture is plain, and simple, stony, shiny floor, a woriking, warm shower, a plugs at each bed and in the bathroom....

This was what we were recommended when planning our trip to Rome. And we are happy that we followed the recommendation. Villa Maria is situated in a very calm non-touristic area just outside the wall, close to Trastevere. Bus to the center of Rome is easily catched 5 minutes from the hotel. Our room was big with a nice balcony...

We were very happy with our hotel, it was very clean and - untypically for rome - in a very calm area, but still close to the city and the most imporant sights (20-30min walk). Furthermore, there are diferent options of public transport. The breakfast was suprisingly good (for italian conditions) and the staff was friendly. We really enjoyed our...

Nice and cosy hotel, very clean, with private bathroom, friendly stuff, very good wi-fi connection, nice breakfast, near to Trastevere, not too far from the historic center (we used to go there on foot).

Staying in Monteverde

Neighbourhood Profile
Above the city on the Janiculum hill, Monteverde is Rome’s popular "getaway" neighbourhood, coveted for its greenery. Rome's largest urban park, Villa Pamphili, is the area's centrepiece with affordable prices and peace and quiet. Monteverde is just far enough away from the centre to feel like you’re on a Roman holiday and close enough to feel the lure of Rome's chaos. Though its downside is the lack of scheduled public transport, this family-oriented area is literally a well-deserved walk in the park.
